How about the entire city of New York or Washington? It's not all that had to make and conceal a nuclear bomb, and a terrorist group as wealthy as al-Qaeda could obtain enough fissionable material to make a couple nukes if they stuck their necks out far enough. Then you just stick the bomb in a van and drive downtown. Boom.

umm... no. very no. the levels of radiation due to decay that would come out of a chunk of weapons grade uranium with just minimal lead shielding are nil compared to anything that woulds show up on a satalite image. there are lots of medical procedures that put out lots more.
