Great song MB. :D The lyrics are spot on.
It's been especially bad today, I've used about 140mins but actually PLAYED for about 30.

The time shown only refers to the time it took for the process to execute. The majority of the lag occurs after the execution when the output is sent back to the screen. Back in the day, when it was really really bad and I had ten characters to worry about, if I had to drop lots of stuff, I'd drop and then hit back, and drop the next thing, back again, drop, etc. Even though it would have taken a few minutes to output each drop to the screen, the drops were still processed more or less instantly, so I only had to wait on the lag once after I had dropped everything I needed to.

The same is true in the forum (where I experience the most lag). It sometimes takes a few minutes for a "post" order to refresh to the next screen, but the post itself is still posted instantly (if you don't believe me, while you're waiting for the post process to finish, open a new tab and view the thread, and you'll see your post already there).

Yea, the forum has been pretty bad for awhile now. I hate it when that happens... when I know it's posted right off, but it's acting like it's not going through... egh.

Does anyone think it has to do with that new little feature that doesn't even work for me? That one that's beside the talk box that's supposed to auto refresh your events or whatever?

The autorefresh was disabled a week or two ago.

I know. As soon as I see that the progress bar of my browser hits the first piece of the bar, in most cases I can just open a new tab to load Cantr or click another button... or hit the back-button and refresh.
But in some cases Cantr doesn't like that, and in a few other cases when the lag is real bad, it'll just be the same lag for a different function.
I've found refresh and the back-button to work best when working with the inventory, opening Cantr in a new tab has mostly the tendency to load the log-in page quick, then take a long time on the main char page, and anything after that, unless the lag dissapates at that moment.
(and of course, when I do open Cantr up in a new tab, I make sure to shut down the old tab. May not be based on facts, but experiences with other sites in the past taught me to avoid logging in on two seperate tabs, with the same account, so I close the old tab)

If you copy/paste the address into the new tab, you shouldn't have any adverse problems. I know lots of folks have multiple windows open for battles, so it gives them an edge.

But no, I don't think opening multiple tabs helps at all with the lag.

Does it ever strike anyone what hopeless masochists we all are? Our devotion to this game, despite all obstacles and impositions on our time. Honestly, it's a sociologist's wet dream of rats hitting the bar for more cocaine, obstacles and delays be damned.

I have noticed recently that lag seems to happen around the time of each project tick. Is that a coincidence? I can't imagine why processing projects would go smoothly one day and cause 5+ minute lag another day. Is there some other tick that happens at more or less the same time?

Is there any progress report from ProgD? When there is a problem, communication helps.
