Described buildings

Postby Shaunri » Thu Jul 05, 2007 3:15 pm

On our Polish forum, an idea has came out - We wondered if it is possible, to make our homes described, as clothes are.

When somebody is wearing some shirt, we can see its full description in his profile.

It could be nice to make something like that for buildings. Of course, it won't be easy, 'cause few styles of roofs, doors (and so on, and so on...) are needed, but it could differentiate cities.

Of course it's just an idea.

The houses are not different because they all take the same resources and tools. If people would use chisels in stone carving then there could be elaborate columns and stuff (already suggested). If you want house descriptions, use the signs. Nowadays you can add several signs on one building so if you run out of space, just continue description on the next sign. It's just rp but others can play along, with all those coloured cottages and such they have.

Some people use the name or sign fields of buildings for architectural description already, and we are also working on some new building types to increase diversity. But I like this idea, that you can see both. One thing to consider is very different aesthetics in different regions. Dynamic descriptions as we have now for buildings maintain this, which is not possible for clothing.
