actually, the Swallow is a bird, a real bird. it exists. there are several types of Swallows. they are a soft billed bird, if i recall, and in the same basic family as many larger finches.... or are they in the same family as those annoying liitle black birds? i dont remember....
anyway, San Quan Capistrano(a city in California) has a nifty festival for the migration of the Swallows every year. out here.
so, back on topic.... Animals:
Alligator lizards, 1 hit and you get just enough bone for a needle, and with about 1000 dead you could have a lizard skin hat..
you could have them everywhere, in lareg numbers so that everyone can have some. the meat would be worthless though, not enough for anything.
did i mention rats before??? also lots of small bones, a bit of fur, and we could have people selling cooked rats on the roads for 30gram of stone per rat. yum.
