Pulling resources doesn't work

Postby Pieter de Groote » Tue Jan 16, 2007 9:23 am

I was trying the new resource pulling, but it doesn't work.

My character is in a sloop, with a small boat docked to it. Standing in the sloop, I tried to pull some resources from the sloop to the small boat.

I get an error message: "ERROR: The object you are trying to drag is no longer in the same location.="
The result is a dragging project: "A raw material to ..." (D 147 %)

I also have a question: When pulling resources, should you be able to select to amount you want to pull, or can you only pull the entire pile?
I would definately want to select the amount, so one character can move a pile in pieces or you can move your part of a big pile into your storage and leave the rest.

I had that error trying to drag a body.
I believe you have to pull the whole heap, but I couldn't do that either, getting indication that I was only 170% complete trying to drag from one room to another unlocked one.
Surely the quantity doesn't have to be less than your remaining carrying capacity?

That error has now been fixed.

Dragging is only possible on the whole pile of resources .
The amount you can drag is dependent on your strength, tiredness, health and fighting skill . In many cases this will be more than you can carry.
As with any dragging project other people can help you

So we desperately need pile splitting!

For the record assuming no damage or tiredness (and that my calculations are correct) the weakest and least skilled character can drag just under 7000g , The average character can drag around 25000g and the most skilled and strongest just under 45000g

No you don't - if it's too heavy then get someone to help you or transfer it by picking it up and physically moving it.

Why is fighting skill involved?

Is it also involved in other dragging?

Does this cind of dragging accumulate tiredness?

If 45000 is max, does that mean, that a fresh body (60000) never can be dragged single handed or is the calculation different here?

Because it's always been involved in all dragging , arguably only strength should be an issue with inanimate objects and that could be changed .

Dragging of objects (including dead bodies) doesn't create tiredness, dragging of live people does

Yes it does mean that no single person can drag a fresh dead body - they always need at least two people, or waiting until the body has lost enough weight.
