Even money bets that th cure is made from 4 of 5 herbs, no two of which are found on the same island or even in the same language group.Missy wrote:Someone figure out the cure and hurry up about it so I can get back to playing. That's how I feel about it. I think lots of others do as well but I don't know that for sure.
Does this strike anyone else as a case of "Damn, they are just ignoring the purely irritating and incurable sneezing - lets put in a slightly more awkward and negative version"
It'll have the same effect as the sneezes did... in other words people will show how they feel by simply ignoring it, and it becomes nothing more than a pointless tool to make the game that little bit harder.

I have a character that's been eating too much since 1727, and resting since 1735. It's currently 1743, and there's been no improvment.
16 days of overeating in a row, and never once felt faint. And she's at sea. She left land as soon as she got sick.
She's never once improved to the point where she's been not hungry and eaten the regular amount. THIS IS INTENTIONAL?
I only get reinforced about cutting down on my charries every time I check her. At least I've calmed down enough I don't think about just unsubscribing and killing them all, and just work on getting my 5 remaining unwanted characters killed. All the sick ones being part of the unwanted group.
I think Surly has it. Random spikes of tiredness wasn't annoying enough to encourage us to deal with disease, so they implemented random spikes of hunger. Once we've become complacent with that, they'll get our attention with random spikes of DEATH.

The problem is, there aren't small, merely annoying symptoms that start happening very long before the major, more detrimental symptom starts occuring. You feel faint and overeat within the same day. There's a huge gap between the two main diseases in Cantr. Sneezes which won't do anything to your char except tire them and then overeating which can be very bad for the char depending on its location and situation. There's no middle ground.
For the most part when a person gets ill in reality, you get annoying symptoms like sore throats, sneezes, coughs and progress further if you don't start prevention practices. Then you start seeing serious signs that could become very detrimental to your health, i.e. a slight cough and sniffles turning into pneumonia. This is something that happens over a course of days or weeks before you reach a serious stage.
For Cantrians, it's not even a day usually (I know time isn't linear and they should feel the effects sooner than you would in real life, but not even a couple of days of forewarning? I think it would be more open to rp in this sense.). The char doesn't start feeling faint several days before it starts eating more. It doesn't just start eating a little more than it should, peak at a large amount of overeating and then gradually taper off again. It just overeats by an atrocious amount, then tapers off day by day, less atrocious amount by less atrocious amount. Apparently it doesn't always go away. There's nothing to signal whether your char is even close to ever getting out of the cycle.
A char should get minor symptoms that don't truly affect them (other than maybe some slight tiredness) and then after a day or two (or three) of those, start overeating by a little, the overeating getting worse gradually day by day. They'll learn that if they don't take care of their minor symptoms that it could turn into something much worse, especially if they're travelling and such.
Isn't that how it works with us?

Just take the challange! As I, RP it with the animals if you live in one of the places where they kill most characters. At least it convinces me to not have any inland explorers by foot any more. No the secret parts of the Cantr world should be discoverd by tractor.

If you spawn someplace like Aki or Burgeo you know your chances are down, and I'd like to see the numbers on how many newspawns in these places sleep outside with no shield and never wake to the challenge. This disease is threatening the lives of chars people have spent a long time developing, and whose risks in life were largely known. Not the same thing at all.
Hermi's right. If prevention is the key, we should have time to do it. And to let our chars figure it out.

At least animals cannot teleport. The new virus can. People can get it even if they had been alone ever since it got implemented. Or maybe it's been dormant in them ever since. The point is, random cases shouldn't appear after it's been released. It should only spread through human contact.
The good thing about the new sickness is that you will notice it at least once a day through the increased eating. The sneezing may remain dormant for days, then burst into action again, even if you had been resting all the time.

I think it is related with the food (obviously).
One spanish player suggested that it can come from the routine feeding, and just changing the kind of food periodically seems to fix the problem. Not checked reliably.
BTW, only one of my chars (among 15) got the illness, feeling faint, eating over 600 grams of smoked meat and no more 'cause she ran out of that night. Next day she ate spinage, something more than the usual, and no more problems up to now.

My char also ran out of cooked meat and ate some berries just before he got sick. After that he got some more meat (handed to him by someone who had been sick which I believe might have been the source of the infection) but only overate a little one day and even less the next. After that no overeating at all and no return of the sickness at all even though he has been working.

There's a way to store things properly?

Reminds me of Steven Deros, who kept sneezing for a whole year of bed rest (not a cot, a bed) before I had enough and he died.Agar wrote:I have a character that's been eating too much since 1727, and resting since 1735. It's currently 1743, and there's been no improvement.

My character that came down with the faintness/eating too much illness has not had it come back. His idea however may be wrong. I Have another theory. My new theory is from those who have recently said that it may be food related. Food from animals vs grown?
I really do not belive this to be the reason. My charater that became ill made food and that food never left his hands. EVER.
