How to pronounce "cantr"

Postby Rusalka » Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:01 pm

That is actually a curious question. There are so many people here, from different nations and cultures, and I am sure there are serval versions. Which one is the right one? Is there a right one?

In Poland some people say it like "kantr" and others like "santr". I use the second one. What about you?

See Cantr or Canter for the answer ;)

Which seems to imply the hard C like a K (which I use)

Yeah, Polish spelling would just be Kantr, I think ;) ... Or Kanter, because that's pretty much what you automatically do to make it pronouncable :) ...

I say Canter, or Cantra when I'm feeling eccentric.

Can't you see everyone is saying the same thing,

"I say canter, or sometimes Canchr"...

Let's just get Jos's final verdict and end this..

"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

People can keep going at it if they want. If you're tired of seeing similar responses, then you know where the links are to take you to other threads. I think Jos has given his opinion somewhere before; even if he takes the time to put it up again, it won't end it. It'll just come up again in another few months in a new thread. There's a couple of these threads around.
