OK then

To be honest I find the original idea pointless and just an artifical attempt to give coins value and a poor means to automate trade , in my opinion a waste of programming resources. If there is ever a strongly developed currency based system in Cantr then there may be some use for vending and turnstile machines , IMHO we can wait until then .

Oh .. sorry - did you mean was it feasible ? ... yes it can be programmed

Thank you for your response.

Chris, can we also get your opinion on the updated versions of the idea - like those I gave later on in the thread? I know it's a lot to go through, but this is an important idea gameplay-wise.

I've argued there that there is a vicious circle which prevents Cantr-currency from forming:

Coins are not instantaneously convertible into goods (this convertibility is the main mechanical function of currency in the real world), because of Cantr's nonrealtime nature. So it is, to me, strange to envision Cantr currency followed by dispenser machines - the currency can't work without them. It simply can't "do" anything in our game.

It is not a problem of scarcity or value or anything else like many begin to think when they encounter this issue; it's a problem of the simulation lacking any reasonable mechanism to allow currency to be truly convertible.

No change whatsoever.

There is nothing in the idea which appeals to me at all . I don't even think it would achieve a fraction of what you think it would.
