Whats with the time thingy

Postby Indio » Wed Jan 14, 2004 6:57 pm

Could someone explain why i have run out of time for the day. Does this mean that you only get a certain amount of time per day. If so how does the travel system work. Will i still be traveling while I cant play?

There is a 200 minute limit per day.
You can save minutes by logging out and logging back in when your away.
I also do this after I read a large note or chain of events.
Your chracters will continue to do whatever they were doing.

you get 200 minutes per day to influence your chars and Cantr in general. Your chars will keep doing what you assigned them to do, even when your time is up or when you are not logged in. So, your char would keep walking until the end of the path is reached, or would keep working on a project until it is finished.

to make sure that we don't use all our bandwidth on the server, and so kee the game up all month there is limited playing time per day (that was the original reason, don't know if it has changed)

You get 200 minutes a day, and spare don't stack. Each day at a set point time is refreshed. The game continues to progress regardless of whether you have playing time, same as if you didn't log in.

I think that covers it all

You'll still be traveling and doing all the things you'd normally be doing if you were logged off; working on projects, etc.

But if you've run out of minutes, you can't log in and make your characters talk, start new projects, or interact in any way.

If yo'ure new, there shouldn't be enough going on that you run out of minutes. Try logging out once you've checked up on every character and log in later; it sounds like you just stayed logged in for 200 minutes straight. I almost never run out of minutes, and I've got a lot of characters, some of whom are fairly important. There's a thread here about that somewhere. Logging off, i mean.

Why haven't we put an explanation of the time limit up with the game yet? We get a new thread about this every month! Or better idea--abolish the damn limit altogether.

Back when we had very limited bandwidth, the time limit was necessary so the server didn't get farked. It could still happen. But maybe 250 per day...

I still say we should be able to carry over from the previous day's unused minutes, or borrow off tommorrows if we need extra time. Or be able to lend to others. I'm sick of running out of time on busy days
