Eitherway, I think it's a bit too complex. My preferred implementation is having a baby object until it matures into a new character, perhaps at age 10 without any limits on what they can do.

The extra 10 years of life would perhaps be an incentive, but probably not as no one seems to live long enough to die (starvation/heart attacks/ killed)

It's not so much the dislike for having babies in cantr...as it is a project of sex that I dislike... do not make sex manditory for babies

I think babies and bloodlines are so far down on the list of Cantr priorities.. or atleast it should be atm. that I am not worried about them being implimented soon.

I think there has to be something to instigate a birth, so that partners can choose when to have children, but it needn't be an explicit sex project.

I don't think a recreational sex project adds anything to the game: that kind of sex is already achieveable with RP.

Something like a dragging project, where both people need to be helping before it's completed.

Along those lines, perhaps female characters could have a "have a baby" button, and would require a man to "help" that woman to complete the project.

Goodness knows what would happen if more than one man tried to help the same woman, as often happens with dragging.

I think the system is based on the amount of time since spawn, or in this case birth, so I don't think you'd have to wait until the baby would have been 25 to respawn/rebirth

You mean for men to be able to rape women, or for men to be able to have babies as well?

I'm a realism advocate (within reason of course) so I'd prefer only women to be capable of childbirth.

As for rape, it is distasteful, but also part of life. It ought to be possible, but not obvious, such as men being able to initate reproduction with a woman. It's not necessary for the main part of the suggestion though.

What is the motivation for this suggestion?

Its not so that people can have "sex" as that seems to be rp'd well enough already. I havent seen anyone say thay want to rp a baby, in fact most offer suggestions to get round that situation, (compressing time, npc's ect).

So I see two main reasons, one is that people can rp being parents and the other is providing a mechanism for lineage.

If you remove babys and sex and your left with some kind of underdeveloped newspawn who bears, (possibly) the genes, looks, skills and name of a local pair of characters. Course the people who want wittle babys are out of luck, but I think they should give up on the idea anyway. No-one wants npcs and no-one wants to play a baby!:roll:

As barely two people can seem to agree on any two factors involved in this its probably going to be down to Jos to decide our fates.

To be honest, there are really no new ideas in the above ... This idea has been discussed, approved, half programmed, rediscussed, yet again rediscussed, etc. etc. for years now ... It'll be implemented, the whole thing has been worked out already, I think you guys can stop wasting your time discussing it ... (But feel free if you want to, of course ...)

How did you get that out of what I said... I was just implying that since this was Cantr.. and NOT real life... anything is possible...and maybe it should be the Men who have the babies...

I see that according to Jos... this is a done deal.. already planned and ready to put into effect.... so there is absolutely no point in this convo...
