I totally agree, Krosshare. After all... It's all IN CHARACTER!! Crikey!
I know that most decent people wouldn't go up to an under-18-year-old and participate in 'outlandish sexual practices' with them, but over-20-year-olds would! I actually believe that it would be AGAINST the Capital Rule to do something like ask OOC someone's age. I mean, come on!!

Duckers explain... in the UK engaging with dirty talk with minors online is actually an offense - there is a police unit that spends time masquerading as children in online chatrooms to try and catch dirty old men at it...
Cantr is not a chatroom , but it only takes one OOC message (eg email or phone number) for something fostered into cantr to be taken outside in the real world... it probably sounds like I'm scare mongering but there is an element of the serious in this...

Which is why you should never give out your phonenumber or email adress unless you're absolutely sure you can trust them, and even then make sure you hesitate!

Explain? OK, then. Here goes...
I, personally, don't think there should be any worries about a players' ages, when their characters are participating in sexual activities. I believe this, for the exact reason that Cantr is not a chatroom, where 'dirty old men' try to find young girls to victimise with their paedophilia. These are all men and women, over twenty years of age, choosing to involve themselves in sexual activity, because they have known and loved eachother for years, and wish to take their relationship to the next level.
There. Is that enough explanation for ya, Phalynx? I mean, if it's not, just say...

Try explaining that to a judge.
Although the characters may be over 20 years old, many of the players are not. The law does not care whether you are playing the role of a child or adult; it only cares about the age of the actual people involved, and what they are doing.
However strange it may seem to you, Cantr could be used as a place to groom younger players due to the "trust" developed between characters which may then influence opinions of the player. The fact that Cantr is slow paced means it only makes it easier to gain someones trust because "I've known them for ages" without actually knwoing anything about them.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of each and every player to make sure they don't break any laws or engage in any questionable activites whilst playing Cantr.

First off, I have not, and do not intend to engage in 'sexual acitivity' in Cantr - I know what I like, and I don't get it from typing...
...
I was gonna peddle some long-winded detailed account of mt stance on teenage sexual activity. but I'm tired.
Let the kids have sex. Let them have it on a computer, let them go at it like rabbits with each other, let them explore all the wopnderful things a healthy sex life has to offer, on- and off-line. Just make sure that they're educated enough to know they can say 'no' and stick to it, and how to protect themselves.
We do much more damage by trying to 'protect' kids, and demonising all sexual activity, then by introducing it openly, and being liberal in the information we provide them with.

Dude that simplistic, pretty foolish and totally irrelevant to what the current direction this thread was taking....
Teens want to screw each other online and/or IRL they can deal with the consequences... the evidence is you tell them how to do it safely they do it younger but ignore the safely bit but that's not anyone's problem here...
Adults screwing teens isn't necessarily that bad IMHO either but we are talking something different here, we were talking about a combination of grooming, which IG and in forum is emminently possible, and the law has recently got quite hot on that.. and consent. Not sure what the law is internationally but here a 14 year old cannot consent....
As the result of my forum activity I have had a 14 year old boy message me on Yahoo. I'm not for one second suggesting he meant anything improper, maybe its my work background but I nearly kacked myself. It's kinda difficult in the current climate here to explain why a 32 yo man is talking online to a 14 year old boy.

I know the age of consent laws in Australia back to front, thanks to doing Unit 1 2 legal studies, I swear I haven't been made to study something so much in depth before. In Australia, children at the age of 10 and above may have sex (which I believe covers cyber sex, although I can't be sure) given that they have sex with someone within a two year age difference. At the age of 16 they may have sex with whoever they want unless they wish to do it with someone younger then then 16, then the two year limit applies. This is the part where most people get confused, most people (in Australia) think it's illegal to have sex under the age of 16 which is really not the case. I'm assuming things may be a bit similar in other countries, although other acts like prostitution (legal here) and pornography can only be done by 18 years and over...except in Queensland. As for the people below the age of 10, they can have sex with each other for all the law cares, they can't be charged.
However, as for the law for the internet in general, it's a very gray area. So far things such as Intellectual property are pretty much protected most of the time, however crimes on the internet are still very hard to monitor. I've been reading some interesting stuff recently about people stealing things in virtual reality games and whether they should be charged or not...although that's not quite related to this topic.
