"Very Old"

Postby Sarah » Fri May 26, 2006 2:24 pm

Could "very old" be changed to "in his/her nineties"? I have no idea why it's called "very old" now; it doesn't fit in with the other age descriptions. It's annoying how every newspawn just has to ask my two old characters how old they are because of this.

I agree! I have some who will soon be getting up to that age, and some of them will be rather young ninety year olds. They won't like being labelled "very old".

Cantrians are as young as they feel, aren't they? 8)

I think its cool that you dont know how old they are, just very old.

It makes them mysterious. They could be 150...., who knows...

and, i hope i dont offend someone, but 90 is very very old......

even if you feel young...

How do you know it's old? We don't know how long Cantrians live til, yet. Perhaps they're more like elves, and live to be 300, whereby 90 wouldn't be very old at all. Not even middle aged. :D

In which case we are going to need descriptors for every decade - which also translate into other languages - (IRC spanish has problems with these already with the literal translation being someone around 25 years old) .

We have to draw an upper line somewhere and currently its over 90

Would it translate better if it was changed from "very old" to "one foot in the grave"?

Haahahaha @ Agar...

Anyway, I guess we can just ask them if they don't want to keep it a secret!

Anyone here seen by younglets as Very old?

"very old" = 90-99
"one foot in the grave" = 100-109
"both feet in the grave and counting" 110-119

And that should be it, I think. Like I said, Cantr will become very unrealistic without mortality.

I can't find the quote, but I'm sure it was affirmed somewhere that there is a age limit for Cantrians.

I hope I can get to be very old. I would have to be a wise ass to the whippersnappers.

"Gee mister, your OLD! How old are you?"

"I have always been this old, for I am your GOD. Bow. NOW!"

keep it as is, I LIKE it!

And then they would have to do it, because obviously no town is going ot put up with a bunch of insolent newspawns upsetting an old man, even if he has gone a bit senile.

And they'll have to just smile and nod and put up with it when you start beating them with your walking stick. :D
