The setting in Cantr

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

How do you think the setting in Cantr should be?

I would like Cantr to evolve into a more modern society, and that older tools, resources etc. disappear along the way so that you aren't stuck making space suits with bone needles.

I want more modern technologies in Cantr, but still keeping the old stuff. After all, Cantr isn't like the IRL world...

I would like to see Cantr progressing, but very slowly. I want to see an age with simple blackpowder muskets, cavalry and lo-tech machines before reaching the modern age.

I like the current medieval setting and think they should concentrate on making non-modern improvements like weather, children etc. instead of the monumental work it would take to have an progressing society that is interesting.

So far there is a large majority that thinks technological progression should stand back in favor of other improvements.

I share the doubts many others have, that creating a game that evolves like Civilization is a much to large task.
I also think a modern society would be both less interesting and much harder to form societies in.

Regarding the society forms I don't see them as misplaced as for example the cars. Abstract theories are much less dependant on time than technical progression...

I think the way the poll is written is unfair.

Even if a slow progression into a more modern era will be programmed, thois will be a very slow process with enough time left to add new features andconcepts. Progression won't stand in the way to do so.
I'd say, make a n3w poll because this way it's subjective.

I don't think evolving will be too a large task, but I'm a nobody. Let the Programmers decide whether eveolving into a modern age will be a too large task to combine with other features.

New and more modern tecnologies will require programming, foe example phones would need programming. This all takes time away from adding in other improvements, like children, that do not affect the technology level, but should be present in whatever technology level.

I think it will be extremly hard to balance a technically progressing society. Just the fact that there is allready cars in the game, wich shouldn't come for several eras is a good example on how hard it is to have the development in ways that the players find acceptable.

There is probably an endless amount of non tech stuff that could be implemented and make Cantr better, and obviously many things would have to stand back if they must also program for a modern progression.
