World of Lorin has been called off.

Postby Thetaris » Tue Jan 17, 2006 2:27 am

This is what I said in reply to Jos's comments on the second update.

I've already called it off within several posts not exactly in these ones, without formally proclaiming it...

From that link fyre gave me, it sounds almost exactly like what I had said to the forum not long ago, I had said I'd start it in 2D, then move it to 3D if I got a chance, etcetera...

So yeah, I've called it off due to lack of interest and flaming.

For clarification, I was hoping to talk to you about copying player and map data for the experiment, but as you can read, I did call it off.

However, I'll make a more formal post about it.

This is the more formal post. Reasons for calling it off include:

a) Rudeness and flaming in my posts by people who were against it (when it didn't effect them whatsoever if they played the graphical or non-graphical version).
b) Lack of interest and general acceptance
c) Read over Jos Eslink's own post, and found it scarily similar to my first offering of World of Lorin.

Now, however, I will finish my World of Lorin game off on this small 'Beta Island' I had created, without copying any of Cantr's ideals and physics, and once that is done, I'll start my dream game.
Which is basically a massive world-like map in the future where you can start settlements, expand, harvest oil for your cities, generate electricity, create space ships to settle on other planets, and eventually if your kingdom is strong enough, expand to an entire county and latter to a world, though it would take a long time. (and you could chose between tyranny, democracy, anarchy etc with positives and negatives of each).

I am completely certain that World of Lorin will no longer have any attachments to Cantr, any persuasion will be fruitless as I have zero intentions of making it now.

I am only finishing it for the practice.

(Why this was kicked off General Chat is beyond me, as this is for the players of Cantr to decide, as it will effect their gameplay if they chose to swap).

Thankyou those who supported me and did not flame my opinions. Others, it is entirely (at least, 66.6%) your fault that this game is not being made, and others can frown upon them.
(By the way, Jos actually said he wasn't opposed, so he's not included in the to-flame list... yet...  )
Evolution is unconformity.

Wasn't kicked of general chat. Was only moved due to it beloning in non Cantr discussion.

Which sounds pretty much like FreeCiv. Where's the originality?

Come on. Get thicker skin. Don't worry about the naysayers. There will always be people flaming you for doing things out of the ordinary. Who cares. Blow it off.
