Sports in Cantr?

All these talk of sports has given me an idea. Just have to think of a character that I can use it on.

I want ot start a Casino with various casino games.

I think sports would work if characters has some sort of skills.

I think things like cards could be added and could work like a regular card game that players can play but gambling should not be programmed and be determined by the players. So a dishonest gambler could not pay if he loses.

I really like the of sports and games in Cantr. Although it would indeed be easier with skills, and perhaps some method to get random numbers etc., I would like to see more creative solutions with current capacities first :D ... I think games should be possible already. For example, longer distance rallies, sailing matches (where it is also a matter of the right calculations etc.), some gambling where a trick is used to get a random number (like in Blaman :) ...), etc.

Would this trick be a random number generated by an html or javascript code in a note? I have been thinking of doing something like that but never thought how it would be accepted.

Yes, cross country rallies could happen. For example, you could have a cross country race between Quillanoi and Siom. Weight being carried and which path you take would be determining factors of who gets to the designated place first.

Yeah, exactly, put two nice pieces of jewelry in Siom, have two competitors, and the first to return the jewelry to Quillanoi (starting from Quillanoi), wins. They start without goods except 3 days food. etc. etc. - don't immediately copy this one - it's just an idea ;) ...

And with a trick, I definitly didn't mean JavaScript - in fact, that I wouldn't really support :) ... I was more thinking of what we do in Blaman: one person takes a number between 1 and 100 in mind; any other one guesses; two people same guess is not allowed; one closest wins ... That's just one trick - there must be others possible :) ...

in unexplored area's you could alwas have a race of put your name o a list and the first person to return with enough stone and wood for a trowel get's 2 years supply of food or the such would encourage exploration plus if they kept a map would save a lot of time for others later :lol:

Or you could play find the *insert rare but important resource* with similar prizes.

A purely chance game you could do would be to have people race to get the most carrots in 5 days. You could have your character work in 50g one hour small projects to be safer or take the riskier strategy of doing it all in one massive 2000g project. Of course, someone could cheat by getting help, or by passing off carrots they had already as part of their work.

Lottery

I came up with the lottery, after I saw someone build a lottery building in Blojt. it would be simple. One guy that runs it, picks a number. Then people buy a number between, lets say for arguments sake, 100. Once everyone buys their tickets, he reveals the number, paying them half of the ticket kitty. Now don't go doing that in Blojt, please. But I also hope to see more interesting things in Cantr.
Like in Siom, Nick wanted to start a theater. And not one person signed up. So that is proof, it is hard to start something like this. He was presented tools and jewerly as prices . Good html coding will help with the interest factor, I have found.

hmmm.....Maybe it would be a good idea to apply these in-games rather than discuss them on the board. It just seems a little useless to discuss it here.

Well, it won't ever get anywhere if until someone does apply these ideas in game and thus so far this part of the discussion has been useless. This seems to be more relevant to me to be applied with characters than us players. I'm not saying stop the discussion but I have yet to see it applied in game.

There are some places that require "no disturbing of the peace". They don't call it that but that is what they mean. Really it is just people responsible for things or guards that do not like to see there character light up all the time.
