Official Apology to Olipifirovash (and places around it)

Postby Thetaris » Wed Nov 23, 2005 1:19 am

Here is a formal, 7-Cantr-year- old apology, to residents and RP'ers of Olipifirovash West and Olipifirovash Forest and the Stone Knights. And I think there's an apology in there indirectly to King Matthias Zahlman....

PLEASE NOTE! THIS IS A REPLY I MADE TO A POST IN A DIFFERENT TOPIC! I have simply copy+pasted it to make it a little more formal.

(WHAT HAPPENED! Agar brought up the topic of me trying to start an OOC group to kill Stone Knights, I was a crappy RP'er at the time, and a newspawn, and didn't care about Cantr reputation at the time, and now I do, so here is a formal apology)

Agar wrote:Well, all I can say is work hard, think before you type, and try not to do anything too stupid like start an ooc group and declare war on the Stone Knights.

Actually, Agar, I was very much a newspawn when that happened and the extent to which I regret that is enormous. At that time, Agar, I played as MYSELF, not as my characters, and I understood the rules very little. In fact, I didn't even use the OOC primary words when speaking OOC, among the first things I said were,
'OMG lol this game is rly cool but rly complex, I had to get like 3 of my friends to teach me how to play lol'
And, the replies to that I didn't understand. They replied with things like,
'OOC: You're supposed to be Roleplaying, don't talk outside of your Character'
I didn't actually realise that what that person said, was something really important and Cantr revolved around that. I just took it lightly and sometimes spoke OOC still.
So from that, to tell the truth, I was actually sending 5 or 6 other characters down to Olipifirovash West. (here comes a life story, stop now if you're not interested, or keep reading), not knowing this was a CR breach. I also was still only playing Cantr for the dungeons+dragons kind of feel to it, not realising it is completely the opposite to that. Anyway, 5 of those 6 people died of hunger... (oh, I had to feed my Characters?) and Chris Noonan was the only one that made it.
By that time, I was in fact beginning to understand Cantr (omg!) and I begun role-playing, making Thetaris Elandor and Chris Noonan look almost like different people. Actually, prior to this, when I was a baby newspawn, I wanted to make a revolution against the King of Olipifirovash west... hehe... Anyway, when Chris Noonan died from theft, Thetaris, (who was role-played as me, and not Thetaris), wanted to kill the Stone Knights. Time went on, he eventually was killed for saying something during a wedding proposal (lol!) and I learnt a valuable lesson.
It's only really in the past two months I've actually gotten into Cantr and really played it properly. Now I don't hate the Stone Knights, I kick myself for stuffing up really badly and crappily RP'ing, and to date you wouldn't be able to tell one of my characters to the other.

So, from what went as a grumble about lack of Cantr play time, to this, an apology, is quite strange.
I apologize to the people of Olipifirovash West, and the Olip Forest, and Stone Knights, for disrupting the game with really crappy RP'ing as Thetaris and Chris.
I actually have a character there in Olip West too, as well, except his motives will not be to kill the Stone Knights.
As I am now a proper RP'er, and my character knows not of the Stone Knights.

YAY!
Hope the people can forgive me.

It takes some level of maturity to admit you messed up. I'm impressed.

My biggest regret in moving from San Francisco, California to Missouri was I had to leave my character in Olip west instead of following you to watch your death.

We appreciate your apology and hope you have developed a better understaning of the capital rule and roleplaying in cantr in general.

Now if you can just drop the hubris while posting in the forums, I might not have a saber-draw reflex every time I see your name.
Reality was never my strong point.
