Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt when he, as the story I heard goes, refused to shoot a baby bear.
The quote Pie butchered is by his distant cousin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in his inaugural speech as he tried to save the US from the Great Depression.
Here are the quotes:
"There is nothing to fear but fear itself...." -FDR (Dem. Pres.)
"Talk softly and carry a big stick." -TR (Rep. Pres)

Lol Franklin Delano Roosevelt...I can't see a teddy.
.
As for phobias, I don't have many huge overriding fears. Although there are some things that bug me, more a deep down thing than anything else. There are some nights when I hate the idea of going to sleep and losing consciousness (which my mind cleverly linked with death). So now there are certain (seemingly random) nights when I just can't fall to sleep. I reckon sleep's overrated anyways.
Hey Kronos, where do you live in Australia? Here in Alice Springs we get a lovely variety of spiders. Ugh, a few weeks ago there was a Huntsman inside, so I smashed it against the wall. It's body (can't think of official term, thought it was thorax but that's insects such as ants correct?) squelched. Then my sister and I played rock-paper-scissors to decide who'd clean it up

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

I guess I too have a fear of death while sleeping... Every night I pray to God not to make me die before I get married and get cute babies... And I also pray to God to make me able to raise them well and that they'd be successful and relegious, because I beleive that being relegious is the base of being good and successful

Let's see... I'm not quite sure, I think it was because it was originally a telegraph station, and the administrator's wife's name was Alice, so they named the telegraph station Alice Springs, and the actual town Todd, I think, after the explorer. This created a lot of confusion (for some reason) so they scrapped Todd and named the town Alice Springs as well. I guess it's a bit ironic, we're named after a woman who has nothing to do with us and never's even been to the city.
And the worst bug isn't a spider or anything like that. It's the stink beetle
. Just TOUCH them and they go off. Thousands of 'em too.
Lol I've never even heard the phrase "mad hatters".

lol I think he was referring to the mad hatter from the novel, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll... a hatter (guy who sells hats) who is quite 'mad' (crazy) in the head...
Lewis Carroll wrote:"Your hair wants cutting," said the Hatter. He had been looking at Alice for some time with great curiosity, and this was his first speech.
"You should learn not to make personal remarks," Alice said with some severity; "it's very rude."
The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this; but all he said was, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?"
