It's to fill a sense of inadequacy - much like owning a ferrari ;)
(And I'm as guilty as the next... - but I'd much rather owned a pimped-up original Mini Copper than a ferrari...)

28 female for me. All mine are still little babies.
Awkward: Having your phone go off full volume during a funeral.

Even more awkward: Your ringtone being "I Will Survive"

The most awkward: Coming back after a 10+ year hiatus and swearing I'd never come back.

 We could always just have Jos obscure the Post Counts from our sights, which wouldn't be a terrible idea, either.

Those of us who love peace must organize as effectively as the war hawks. As they spread the propaganda of war - we must spread the propaganda of peace.

I like that idea. Quantity doesn't = quality, as I'll be technically the second to admit.

21, male.
As for the post-count... just have someone randomly wipe the counts, or lower them, at random moments.
That would take the importance of them out, wouldn't it?
On the other hand, it might start a new "game", of seeing who gets to hold the highest count for the longest time... okay, maybe I'm not on to something after all...

If you want posts counts displayed / not displayed - I've started a poll here.

Depending on the response, I'll see what I can (get the forum admin to) do...
