Well that's a pretty blatant "holier than thou" attitude. I always play my characters as individuals, but the PD doesn't really care about that. Saztronic, you'll learn that not only do you have to follow the rules that actually exist, you have to follow a bunch of rules that don't truly exist. See, the PD likes to make up, change, or enforce rules without any notice to the players.

Just make it pretty obvious that you're not doing anything wrong, and try not to piss off PD members personally, and you shouldn't be annoyed too much.

Nick, you have in fact broken Cantr's rules, so please don't act like an innocent victim of aggression.

This forum is for the public discussion of issues relating to the CR, particularly breaches, of course. So, everyone's comments are welcome, although what's stated by a PD member bears more weight. I think that is all Brandon was saying.

If we were having a public discussion about Marketing Cantr, and I offered my opinion, people should know that it's not official, whereas something said by you regarding the marketing topic would have more weight, since you could do something in that capacity. That's all Brandon was saying.

Each time any member of the PD contacts you, with the exception of the time I did, you've reacted as though the member was just biased against you and would never really address the actual issue that you were being contacted about. Even Jos has tried to explain to you that the reason the PD contacts you is due to various concerns about your playing style, not because members sit around in their spare time wondering how they can ruin your day.

I had Missy quoted saying she wanted to find a way to get rid of my character THROUGH PD METHODS before I killed HER CHARACTER.

Come on, now. Don't give me bull.

Brandon on the PD? Do I need to explain why that is not a good idea?

You act like no staff abuse goes on. Or that you guys enforce the rule fairly. Ignoring it only makes you look stupid, frankly.

I frankly do not care if you think I played my characters wrong, because thats only your opinion. Just because you have some volunteer position on a website DOES NOT make your opinion more valid than mine, or anyone elses. I recall being treated quite badly by you, and I submitted a complaint about it.

I mean come on, Missy and Brandon were both involved in a HUGE OOC organisation, the AACCS, and now both of these people are on the friggin PD! I mean, I agree we can forgive them for it, but I CERTAINLY think that this should exempt them from ever being in a positon of practically unmonitored power. It's quite clear a clique runs Cantr now, as Jos and co simply don't have the time to fully manage cantr's failing bureaucracy.

F*ck the clique.

Missy was never really a part of that group Nick. How do you think it was really found out back then? Oh wait thats right Missy giving information to Thomas about it.

Your post really shows how little you know about how things really are ran, unmonitored power?

If it was unmonitored Nick and since we have the ability to delete characters and seeing how many of us on the PD are after you, your characters we didnt like would be dead. Us being a part of the Players Department to monitor this game does indeed make our volunteer opinion alot more valid than yours or anyone elses who is breaking the rules

Really though you try to play the innocent entirely to much Nick, I have cheated in the past and everyone or almost everyone knows about it. Me being on the staff now was part of a decision that had to be made by Jos and others. Not this imaginary clique you have in your mind.

You were already being actively investigated for months before Missy's char was at risk by one of your chars. I have seen the whole discussion, and what they were saying was that they hoped you would be caught before they lost a char. There are many, many instances of PDers saying they hoped we'd have something solid on a player before a chars died, and the situation you mention was the only time the chars they hoped to protect were their own.

Yeah okay, so one of the very few players to ever cheat enough to get banned (Brandon) is now on the PD, which has nothing to do whatosever with him being friends with PD members?

Right....

Ok so me being friends with Missy is being friends with the entire Players Department. A department that has NOTHING to do with someone being accepted as staff? Interesting.

If you really dont believe it then Nick, please do go email Jos or ask him somehow why I am now a member of the staff.

Missy is not one of the people who got to vote on Brandon's application.

I didn't say Missy got an official vote. Other ways to influence, certainly.

It is my humble opinion that, much as I enjoy listening in on heated argument, this has gone completely off on a tangent from the topic of the thread and also really doesn't belong in public. The Players Department has a means of private group communication to discuss important business, does it not? Use that.

EDIT: Well, I mean that all the people involved in this flamewar, not all of whom are in the PD (making my earlier suggestion ungood - mea culpa), should go somewhere else to talk. Make yourselves a temporary IRC channel or something.

I actually enjoyed it i had no idea they would hire someone who was caught cheating and banned that's just crazy to me. I had a 3 characters with my old account who would sometimes buy and sell stuff from each other and i caught holy hell for it so it just doesn't seem right someone who has been proven to be morally flexibile gets a position like that. Thanks for making my thread way more interesting.

It's not a question of moral flexibility, it's a question of growth and maturation. Obviously it has been years since Bran was involved in such behavior, and obviously Jos et al. decided that he had changed and matured. We do not tolerate cheating, but very few people are banned permanently, especially if they show a willingness to work with the rules.

I'm not saying that if you cheated at one time you shouldnt be allowed to play.
I just think that PD members, with the powers and trust they are given, should be held to a higher standard.

And they are. If you'll note, there is a huge turnover in the department, largely due to staff who do not meet the strict standards.

That doesn't mean that players aren't able to redeem themselves, and foster a renewed trust over a long period of time. Could even happen for you, Nick, someday, if you cared, which I know you don't.
