A lightning bolt to the forehead quickly refreshed my mind and filled my body with energy. Yo-ho-ho, who's next, you pansies?
He actually got healed by Punishment!

15:09 I looked into the kind eyes of the vanquished monster and suddenly decided — Sun Dog, you'll be my pet! And I'll call you Sneezy. Bandaged his wounds, gave him a treat and fastened the leash.

If you press the ! in the header of the diary you should be able to see old and important events. I just saw that today, so I don't know how far back it lasts though.
Name Sneezy
Species sun dog
Level 1
Age about 1 hour
17:21 Well done, sun dog! He stopped, dug into the ground and unearthed 173 gold coins. I'm going to use it to buy him some anti-flea treatment.

The pet taming event seems to have a single template:
I looked into the kind eyes of the vanquished monster and suddenly decided — <species_name>, you'll be my pet! And I'll call you <pet_name>. Bandaged his wounds, gave him a treat and fastened the leash.

Unfortunatelly, I haven't realised that untill just minutes before mu post (I actually came to the forum just to do a big YAY about it) and other events replaced it by then.
Here's something nice though:
Nibbler was suddenly surrounded by a sparkling glow and began skipping around and humming happily. Hey, I think he just leveled up!
Edit: and this made me lol double
09:40
As I was shopping, a random person came in, walked past the merchant and opened a conveniently located chest. Then, while holding something over his head, he yelled: 'OBTAINED PHOENIX DOWN!'

14:14 Sneezy glowed and his eyes sparkled. It seems that my brute just achieved a new level.

My firefox's personality changed from clumsy to scary. That seems a better fit for a name like "Behemoth."

Where can you find a list of commands the hero actually understands? He doesn't seem to understand anything I say. Example:
01:07
Under direction of the heavens I knelt down on the ground and sent a prayer. Almighty, you sure do demand a lot of attention.
01:07
Clouds in the sky suddenly formed into the words: 'Buy a nice cool weapon to smite your enemy's. Preferably a lightsaber!'
I asked him to buy a weapon. Not to pray.

check here:
http://wiki.godvillegame.com/index.php/Voice_of_godalthough the heroes are rather stubborn dummies. Don't expect them to listen to you more than in about 20% of the cases.

My pet died and my hero didn't revive him. Tigger was a good Firefox.

So guys, how long did it take you to get a pet? My hero hasn't encountered any of the possible ones yet.
