A distraction from the pain from missing Cantr!

http://newworld.blindlogic.net/forum/index.php

I have created a forum based around a little RP game we can all participate in. Feedback and opinions are certainly welcome, but more importantly, so is your participation. I know it will not come close to bringing back the joy of Cantr, but it can serve as something to do until the issues of the game can be fixed.

Registration is easy, just enter a name (it will be your characters name) and a password and you should be in. No user email confirmation or anything needed. Players can create as many accounts (characters) as they feel they can handle. If more information is needed, PM me, or post it here.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if my 'other' idea (other than irc or forum) would be of interest and help when playing the game on mycantr, basically it can be used as a way to keep track of the 'mycantr game world'. The game events are entered in the forum and 'the idea' below keeps track of things that are happening.

The text on these pages can be edited in real time by anyone, the homepage of the site is full of garbage so don't even bother looking there. The website is yourworldoftext if you don't know about it.

I have been following the events in Hackerzdeth and written up the various pages for the game the format I have used is:

World Map: /mycantrmap

Characters: /<charactername>

Character Inventory: /<charactername>inv

Places: /<placename>

Interconnections between places: /<placename><dir> (n,s,e,w,ne,nw,se,sw)

People:/<placename>peo

Buildings: /<placename>bui

Location: /<placename>loc

Objects: /<placename>obj

For example the starting town Hackerzdeth is here:

http://www.yourworldoftext.com/hackerzdeth

I just think this useful website at yourworldoftext, could be put to use for roleplaying.. maybe? If it's not a good idea no worries I have enjoyed setting it up :D

If it is useful then that's great, I will leave it for someone else to add to it and enhance the basic idea.

Note: Beware it's very easy to edit the pages!

ps the additional places, map directions etc I have added are only to show my idea, not the actual places they are yet to be discovered!

I like it...but the ease of access and ability to change anything may make it a liability. Is there a way to restrict it to being allowable for only certain people to edit certain areas?

It's possible to create a custom world using an email address and password, I've not tried registering an account. The 'Menu' option (top right corner of page) has 'About' that goes through to the Your World of Text information page.

It's an infinite grid/page size, coordinates can be displayed and the page is moved around using the mouse buttons.

Looks really nice... but I shall resist  the more hungry I get, the more tasty will be the feast when Cantr finally returns 8)

Nope, server company sent out an email that they were ordered to power down as much as they were able to due to an emergency condition. Apparently it has to do with some power transformer that went insane or something.

I bet it was the hacker. They want to extend and intensify our Cantr-withdrawal symptoms and thus our misery, and they're willing to do whatever it takes to do so simply because they hate us. :x

Yes me too, I was sleeping soundly last night :)

When I woke up had a thought.. to have above and below the ground:

/<placename><a> (above)

/<placename><b> (below)

With above there's now sky, and below there's things buried plus caves and caverns etc!

Also up and down for inside buildings etc:

/<placename><u> (up)

/<placename><d> (down)

I'm excited about this 'unlimited' world that has above, below, up and down etc.. my imagination is now free to create a new and unexplored world.
I'm off to do some mycantr world building in ywot, ancient ruins, unihabited places in far off distant lands, isolated islands.. endless possibilities!! 8)

I think it's good and bad being so easy to edit yourworldoftext, it's a liability but liberatating at the same time. There's freedom for anyone to create, build and change things, but also to act responsibly as caretakers of the world. With the home page of ywot there's constant change, adding, editing, deleting, it's a truly destructible text environment.
