I'm beginning to wonder if the family/birthing system is working as well as it should in FTO. The zombies and RP-less active babies kind of detract, and limiting players so much for their first week (well 2 weeks to build anything, 5 weeks if you count hunting, combat & travelling, or 10 weeks for the full feature set) isn't such a great idea.

Naw my computer's just shit and hates FTO. And any IM service. And any video chat service. Pretty much everything. Even Cantr runs slow on it now.

Step 1:
Defrag.

Step 2:
Get a malware/adware scanner, but before scanning delete your internet explorer, and any other browser's cache it'll speed the search up tons.

I use S&D and MalawareBytes Anti-Malware might've gotten that name wrong, I'd set these to scan at like a time you should never be awake.

Step 3:
If need be, get protected from viruses, trojans, and the like. If you don't have any cash whatsoever, grab AVG for free. If you don't need viral protection (I don't have an anti-virus, and I've never really needed one, because I know a bit about computers.)

Step 4:
Reinstall/Install the latest service pack if you're running Windows, if you're running Windows. This is extremely important and will fix most if not all OS level problems, because it adds anything that's missing or broken, etc.

Step 5:
If you're running a laptop find your model's page on the manufacturer's website. Download all relevant drivers and software.

If you're running a desktop:
Check the manufacturer of your chipset, unless you're running a 15 year old computer it's probably going to either be:

amd.com
intel.com
nvidia.com

You'll probably find almost all relevant chipset/video/other random processor crap on one or two of those 3 sites.

That's exactly the process I do whenever I encounter/have to use a horribly kept computer, and most of the time it works. Sometimes they're just old though, and run like a PowerPC processor and won't let me watch Youtube :S

I never got the entire 'OMG WOMEN IN VIDEOGAMEZ' thing. If I wanted to see almost naked women I walk a mile to the beach.

All that is doing is pissing off people who actually wanna play while having the people who "love it" (said with severe sarcastic tendencies) bash those that want to play the game but, fundamentally, can't.

1 month before my character can leave his boring ass and mindless colony... and 4 before he could actually live by himself.

This makes me want to quit, I believe others as well.

The whole thing is generally busted and doesn't encourage ANYONE to RP for SEVERAL MONTHS.

I almost except "OOC: I'm not interacting with your character because right now he is useless. Sorry but could you wait inside until he's five?"

AND THEN THE COMMUNITY IS ALL, "RP SIGH AIL!" Which if fucking stupid based on in game behavior!

I wish my FTO family would kill my character cause I can't let him starve... my brain wont let me cause its counter his personality to starve himself. X|

I should take my own bloody advice and just avoid the FTO forums but play the game.
