We had ovens back home but then we went traveling. Not all places have stone, and foraging enough units for an oven would feel like a waste if you can't take it with you. I remember carrying ovens around in the mines, that was handy. I think it would be better if there was a project to make a fire pit, and starting the actual fire would happen instantly. You'd click on small wood fire or the equivalent and it would make a small wood fire in the pit, and if you clicked something like add wood to the fire, it would make it grow bigger. When it ran out of fuel, it would go through stages like dying wood fire, glowing embers, warm ashes and cold ashes. With embers you could start a fire without a fire starting instrument, with warm ashes you might be able to rekindle the flames but cold ashes would only be a sign that there used to be a fire here over a day ago. The ashes would eventually deteriorate and stop appearing on the list of objects, to simulate being swept away by wind and rain, but they could remain as a sign of somebody was here for a long time. Currently things deteriorate so fast that it's hard to tell if someone has previously stopped in a place. Fire is a certain sign of civilization. Although it would be interesting if NPC creatures could set up camp to make people think there are others and make them either excited or afraid of running into them.

I was excited at first that I was the only girl in the family. was being spoiled.... I mean I had 6 brothers. well... I have a baby sister now... and life sucks.

Sibling rivalry? I would imagine that would give good material for rp. If you're still little you can go "I HATE little sister! She's ugly. *She crosses her arms and juts out her lower lip.* Mommy, you should put her back in your tummy and make her come out as a boy."

From what I know I have two older grown sisters. One decided she didn't want to be the stay at home and do what was expected of her so she ran off to live elsewhere (apparently big drama). The other I don't know if she's still around or went off as well... she hasn't come to see the new youngsters if she is. I am kinda getting the gist that females are rare in my species, and that may be one of the reasons why my late middle aged parents decided to breed again.

I am really digging my species though, they seem to have quite a bit of culture/religion that they believe strongly in - and they are pretty good-looking too. LOL Can't want to do a portrait for mine when she gets older.

Now I am just too curious if you are talking about the colonies and races I think you are. Does one of them... have dark skin and white hair while the other one is... *cough* short?
