I just saw this in the Cave Entrance:

"Whenever you go near this egg your hair stands on end."

Ok so how does this work? I have links and what not. A couple of dragons. But what causes the eggs to crack. Then what causes the hatchlings to come out. And then what makes them adults?

Enough hits & clicks, but not too many hits & clicks. Just having them in your sig here and posting now & then should be enough to grow them.

I got 18k hits and a few hundred clicks on an egg within a few hours when I put it on another site, and that egg died. Must have been the stress... :P

I just got into this 'game' myself so know the frustrating confusion.
Here's a great site to bookmark also: http://dragcave.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Cave_Wiki

1) Essentially, you can only have 4 eggs and hatchlings at a time.
2) You can have as many adult dragons as you want. Once they are adults, you don't need to keep them linked except to show them off. they won't vanish once adult.
3) Eggs hatch based on how many clicks, and views they receive. If they don't get enough views they die. (once adult, they are immortal, I think).
4) Hatchlings are similar, they need views and clicks to grow into adulthood.

After that, it's just a matter of building a collection of dragons, by hatching more eggs over time. Adults can apparently breed together and create eggs for you, based on the 'parent breeds' but I only have three adults myself, and havn't tried breeding them yet, since I am trying to get a particular set of dragons first.

So:
-Catch eggs on your scroll.
-Get bunches of people to view them (forum sigs, etc) so they hatch.
-Get bunches of people to view the hatchlings until they become adults.
-Catch or breed more eggs.
Rinse, repeat.

Damn, I'm getting sloppy. Now I have two adult female Night Glory Drakes in addition to the two adult male alt blacks.

I'm slowly getting into things. Finally got a chance to try breeding my first batch of adults.
A nocturne male and an albino female.

Now, to explore the genetics of dragons.
(not using the wiki, want to learn as I go, in true patient mad-scientist form...)
