*please view with Chinese encoding on your browser if you are having trouble reading*
Cantr II

Better if You tell which encoding is correct. I found 8 of them in my browser

so far, I found all of the Chinese Simplified encoding works... except for the Chinese Simplified (ISO-2022-CN)....
I use Firefox, by the way, so I'm not sure about the IE encoding....

Yay!
Will try to make this my only post in this area with English in it- but for research purposes I'd like to know if you guys read
a) Simplified Chinese
b) Traditional Chinese
c) Both!
I can read both. (I can only write in Simplified though) Thanks!

I am not able to read your post and I have about every encoding I can figure out how to activate turned on.

On a related note, I can't read half of the Polish characters either. What encodings are they using in game?
你好
I can't read many characters yet, but I am trying to learn like mad, in the middle of all my research and staff duties and all sorts of other things. I really want in on a Chinese region.

hopefully now people can read it.... I think people can use both English and Chinese in here, as some people would be learning, and will be kind of hard on them to force them to use Chinese only...
I can read traditional well, decent on the simplified... (only started to learn to type when I start translating... so let me know if there is any mistake

)
so I think I'm ok in both count....

My Chinese software is down for the night :S
Whoa how many languages do you speak, Wichita?
There's a poor soul speaking a language I'm not familiar with and stranded in the Chinese region...

I am reading it clearly now, johntsai!
As for languages, I have active characters in English and German that can handle their own. I can understand quite a bit of Spanish but don't know it well enough to speak it. I am picking up Polish slowly via Cantr, and am actively studying Mandarin and Finnish at the moment, when my thesis research, characters, and staff responsibilities don't take up too much time.
Is there a troublemaker spawning a non-Chinese character in the area, or are the chinese spawnpoints near a different language group?

If it is someone just refusing to play in language, report it to the Players Depratment as a CR breach.
Hopefully it isn't just my character spouting gibberish symbols.

Some people have been ocmplaining about my input encodings lately, but I think they are working fine in game.

有人在cantr 里面说话我听不(dong3 - not sure of the character)

Fishfin,
I think the first time, the person was typing without using the proper fonts...

Could someone suggest a good chinese-entering program? I bought a laptop recently, and on my main computer, I lost the hard drive so I've lost all my programs.
On another note, my laptop views chinese automatically..... but not my main computer!

Windows XP has chinese input mode for the keyboard ready to be enabled.
Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options
You can set input modes under the Languages tab by clicking on the Details button. Dig around and you should be able to find the Chinese Microsoft PinYin IME. That is what I have been using, and it seems to work most everywhere except for the people who don't have UTF-8 enabled in the IRC.
For other operating systems, I am not sure yet. Maybe we should write up a tutorial to post here in the forum for newcomers with the same problem.

does anyone wants to volunteer to do a quick how-to guide for people who wants to be in the Chinese server?
