Fairy from a Magical Kingdom?

Hi, I've been playing a little awhile but this is my first post here. *waves*

There's a newspawn in Baak Hills West, I've just been treating her like she's crazy but my cousin said I should report her.

"*A flash in the sky a crash in the clouds and suddenly appears WindDancer* Hello good people of Baak Hills. I am WindDancer, a Fairy, Can you help me find some food, and it seems the lightning destroyed my clothes and the storm has damaged my wings. I feel I shall be on this planes for some time until my wings grow back.*She sits softlyand begins to softly cry* When will I ever get home."

1380-7: WindDancer the hilariously insane (a woman in her twenties) says: "I was not spawned here as you say, I fell from the sky. I was born on a cloud in a Magical Kingdom. All you have to do is think of what you desire and it shall be yours. And reguardless of who you are, everyone shows equal respect and we do not go around Poking fun of people who come to visit or by Mishap fall into our Kingdom."

1380-7: WindDancer the hilariously insane (a woman in her twenties) says: "So you must be what we call a Flarndippch Some oine who can not learn.*She pauses and coyly walks around the girl* In My world, You would be made to sit in a reforme chamber forced to kiss kittens, and Play with butterflies until you would learn to be a nice person."

1380-7: WindDancer the hilariously insane (a woman in her twenties) says: "Stalefishblade, I will help you with your food collection. Although these potatoes, are kind of bland. Nothing like the sweet treats we have at home. Why do we have to eat so many of them in a day? I mean 100g is a meal, We had a cookie that all you needed was a crumb to sustain you for many days.*She sighs and looks to the sky* I hope they will come get me soon. I am not sure I will get used to this Plane and the Inhabitants rudeness."

Good heavens (no pun intended).
Mostly this could legitimately be treated as run-of-the-mill insanity, though an OOC whisper to tell the player she shouldn't do stuff like "*A flash in the sky a crash in the clouds and suddenly appears WindDancer*" would be very much in order. Of course, it's still horrible RP. But legal, I think.

 The idea isn't all that bad but the references (i.e. to cats and butterflies) are questionable. There are many other alternatives that would be much more cantr friendly, i.e. lions, etc.

The use of the word "fairy" is justified, in my opinion, solely because cantr doesn't have its own specific language and already applies out of character terminology such as "democracy, councils, sultans, etc."

No worse than the guy falling down from the sky in Quillanoi, crying "Geronimo!" :D
I think this girl has just played too much in chatrooms, she will adjust.

I don't know if shes being annoying on purpose or if the player just doesn't have a clue.

I really don't like her at all, she slapped me and then everyone was talking about how rude *I* was being for telling her she's crazy.

There was some dope a LONG time ago in Seatown Forest that called himself Dark Lord Voldemort and made earthquakes and stuff. My character had a blast mocking him. I'd just have fun with it.

(Of course he was imprisioned and killed, eventually)

Voldemort was imprisoned and killed, or are you talking about *your* character?

I'm surprised everyone's acting the way they are about it. Noone's even that nice to crazy people in real life, but its like ALL the characters in this town are ultra PC and have have taken sensitivity training or something. And it' a medieval kind of town with a monarchy, but thats the kind of reaction I'd expect to see if you made fun of a retarded person in real life. (And she's not even retarded,m just delusional and mean) Do players here usually just ignore all the insane characters or go along with them to be polite or what?

I guess its one thing if someones pretending to be a dark lord, try making fun of a wannabe Tinkerbell and everyone goes on and on about how mean you are and how you deserved to be slapped.

It's not us, it's our characters who choose their attitudes towards this depending on their personality.

Everyone in town must have the same personality then...

I read my posts and I probably sound like I'm more upset by this then I actually am. I'm actually having fun, anything that makes the town more active is fun, but this girl's RP is just really, really bad. I thought maybe she was a newbie or something...even though I'm pretty new too and I never tried anything like tht because I read the rules. Anyway I made fun of her becuase that's my character's personality, but part of the reason was to make her see that that kind of character wasn't normal for Cantr,. in fact one of the reasons I was convinced to play this is because it would let me get *away* from lame fantasy cliches. But it's frustrating because everyone else is acting like being a fairy is perfectly okay and my character will get in trouble if she says anything to her anymore.

So if her next character says she's a unicorn or something don't blame me, I tried. :)

Oh, man! I wish my Petunia was close by! She'd have a blast with that lady!

She still misses the clown man... The guy who was always naming himself Clone #xxxx. I could have had fun making fun of him for DAYS!

Wandering a bit, isn't it?

If people want to complain about either this particular case, or people who make characters with backstories (especially wierd ones) that should probably be a general discussion topic...

Baaak hills west... I think i founded that town.. My charrie was king before i stopped playing and my account went... so no PC bashing, thats the way he wanted it, and i'm glad its stuck like that... Memories... sorry to chat here, but i liked my old town :(

Edit: actually i did found that town, definatly, i played King Duritz, who set it up from scratch.. If anyone with a carrie in that town reads this, could they drop me a PM and tell me whats happening there? would be very interested to know!

Floyd! you left us! :P I wondered if that wasn't you... Hey, nice avatar btw ;)

As far as the ignoring the fairy, kingdom, etc. stuff... Some pretty much ignore it all together maybe in hopes of making the char tone it down through passive resistance. At least she has created a backstory that explains why she's on the ground (the wings being gone, etc)... to me it's just another crazy spawning story. It could be looked at as a dream (if you want to argue that Cantrians dream) she took realistically or whatever. Who knows (at least character-wise) what happens before/as you spawn? Lots of chars rp falling from the sky or whatever. It's not like she's trying to fly around and make turkeys into bunnies or something...

And I wouldn't call it bad rp... she rp's just fine... the story is just a little out there for Cantr... *shrugs*

Edit: Oh, and welcome Marian :) Your char has definitely added some spice to that town :D

No, no, I said I would report her. I warned you about how dangerous the forum was. Now you're addicted and you'll never have a social life again, ever.

Anyway, just so this is on topic, I figured the 'fairy' part was a borderline CR for bringing in RL mythology. (Or maybe not 'mythology' so much as ripping off Neopets.) The kitten and butterfly references were probably borderline too, but I've seen people make offhand references to things that don't exist in Cantr before, just not usually in quite such an obvious and annoying way.

I guess the main breach would be the abuse of emotes. This WindDancer chick spawned the normal way whether she wants to believe it or not, and she can't be just summoning up storms or whatever on a whim. Heck, there's no actual evidence that storms even exist in Cantr, so the very concept might be filed in the 'kittens and butterflies' category.

P.S. Marian, were you typing blindfolded or what? That 'Edit' button above your post is there for a reason...

:( Its a shame you left us Marian... you certainly did add some spice to the town! And my char had a bit of a soft spot for you, though he tried not to show it...
