Can someone please, please do something about this guy? I don't know if it's technically against the rules to give all your characters the same name (even if it's the most @#$@^%#% idiotic one in existence!) but besides that there's clearly a lot he doesn't understand about the game. The difference between OOC and IC, for one...he doesn't seem as active lately (at least with the characters I know of), but before he kept talking about his 'comp' and clicking buttons and the like, even after he was asked not to do it through whispers.

It's not like I'm asking you guys to ban him or anything, but could somebody at least talk to him and see if it helps? (Also point out the location of the caps lock and apostrophe keys? Though he doesn't seem alone among those with defective keyboards. I'm seeing more and more lately...makes me wonder if it's possible to reach through my monitor and break their players fingers so they can never type again... )

Do I need to point out just why this has been nominated for the "most pointless post" award?

Yes, please do.
If newbies don't know the difference between IC and OOC, they should be taught. And if this person's annoyance factor is so great that his characters get killed for it, he definately needs help.

Generally you should mention at least some specifics so the PD actually knows which of the many CR offenders you're actually talking about.
Otherwise, there's nothing the PD can do. Hence pointless.

Nick, please note the title of the thread. That was enough to go on.

Skill in Cantr and intelligence aren't so directly related.
True, if you're stupid you'll probably never get a handle on Cantr. But even smart people will have a hard time with this game at first.
Jos for instance is the creator of this game. A bright programmer and political scientist. However, I think in a battle of Cantr strategy, I'd beat him any day. ;-)

Unless he cheated of course.

OH KNOW!! WERE DOOMED!!! JOS PLEAS SAVE US FROME THE MOST STUPID POST IN THE WORLD I AM JUST POSTING OR AT LEAST GIVE ME A PM ABOUT HOW I SHOULD EDIT THIS POST TO BE ABOUT THIS TOPIC!!!

God i'v wanted to do that for a LONG... LONG TIME!!!

So, somone give him a Message to tell him how the game works and give him a warning like you did me once that i avoided by telling you that they were really all just doing what they would do naturally and not what i wanted to do(Wich would have been a CR breach) Wich was a lie.

It's so funny that experienced players of these online role playing games like to discriminate against people who don't know how to play them following the conventions. I've been playing rpgs online for years, and I still get rather defensive when people start talking about n00bs (using that ridiculous spelling of it, as if numbers were really letters and it was some secret code that the rest of us non l33t speakers couldn't figure out...)

Just because this guy doesn't follow a completely arbitrary convention doesn't mean he needs a talking to by any one. Perhaps some non-judgemental person should approach him or her and say, "Look man, here is what you are doing, here is why what you are doing doesn't work here, here are some possible suggestions for you to fix it." But at the very least don't get upset with the person because he doesn't follow the convention, and certainly don't turn him in for a capital rule breech, because chances are he doesn't even know what a capital rule is, while for y'all, who have been LIVING within the confines of this game for so long, it is like the grammer of your language.

It makes me wonder sometimes who is more pathetic: the new guy who is just trying out new things and came to this site because it sounded interesting, but doesn't really know how to play the game, or the people who bitch and complain about that person...

You should be reserving your complaints for the people who DO know how to play the game and are gaming the system, doing legitimate CR breeches because they know the game so well that they have identified areas where they think they can get over. At the very least, either help the new people enjoy the game as much as y'all seem to or leave them the hell alone. Like the real world, there are millions of people who annoy us all around us. Does that mean we should advocate their sim-execution, or some other form of divine intervention to get them away from us?

Or do you just come to these sites just so you can get away from all the jocks and cheerleaders that annoy you so much in the real world and live your life in a fantasy land?

It just really torques me when people talk about new people like they were never new themselves. Contrary to popular myth among experienced "gamers" none of us were born playing online roleplaying games. None of us played them in kindergarten. So we were all new people (or n00bs in g33k language, if you will) at one point or another. Deal with it and help these guys out instead of reporting them to the gamer police.

I think usually people believe an authority figure (PD) more than just some fellow player who whispers to their character "OOC: Hey, you're not supposed to act like that". And usually when players get annoyed by some newspawn messing around and maybe even causing long term damage by jamming machinery, hitting people on a region with no healing food, stealing and so on, it's hard to be polite and trust this person's intelligence. People automatically presume that somebody is messing with them on purpose.

When joining the game, there is a description of the Capital Rule, and a button that says "Yes, I have read and understood the things said above". Many people tend to skip these kind of things but really, it's not that long to read. One page. Shouldn't be too hard. I know I read all the background information before signing up, even though some of it was outdated and naturally I couldn't remember every single detail, but I got the general idea. Even Pie gets it.

WM, what the hell?

Did I say anything about him breaching the CR?

If you had actually read the post that started this thread before going into full-blown rant mode, you'd have seen that all I asked was whether someone on the staff could possibly explain to him the difference between OOC and IC and a few other things about the game, since he's apparently not listening to any of the players who've repeatedly tried to offer advice.

And is it really a "completely arbitrary convention" to wish someone would take at least a tiny bit of care in their typing? The guy makes Pie look like an English professor. (Sure, he's unfortunately not alone in that, but in this situation his rather..distinctive...naming system does make him kind of a target, since it's pretty obvious which characters the guy is playing and how they all behave exactly alike.)

Oh, and, same guy? http://skateboard.colonies.com/members/stalefishblade/

Only he typed the names of all those bands correctly, so I don't know...

Psst, Lumin, they're probably copy-pasted straight from sources!
