Cupid??

Postby Mavsfan911 » Sat Dec 04, 2004 8:05 pm

1017-4: Cupid says: "Hello everyone. I'm Cupid. I am a helper of love. *Smiles* If you have a "crush" or anything like that and would like to let them know in a letter or a special gift you might want to give them just let me know and give me your letter and I'll deliver it. But I wont be starting this untill I get a shop set up so that it can be more secretive. "

Isn't this a breach?
Some new spawn in Doryiskom, anyway. This looked pretty obvious...

So, what's wrong with it? Someone wants to set themselves up as a personal messenger service, specializing in matters of the heart. So?

Yes, I have seen a lot of stupid things like this, it just really gets annoying. Try to ignore them would be my advice, there was a topic started a while ago arguing where it was a CR breach or not, I think they said it wasn't.

The problem is that you aren't allowed to use religions, cultures etc. from the real world and put in Cantr.

He's not using a religion. He's using a name and an archetype. He doesn't claim to be a god or even a follower of a god, just someone who wants to help love along. No different from setting out a signpost that says "Yenta for Hire."

If I call myself Zeus and have an interest in all things electrical, am I breaking the CR? Of course not. I'm using a name and a persona.

His point is that you are not suppose to implement things from OOC in game.

In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong with this. Yes, the player took Cupid as an OOC name, but that has never been disallowed. There are many OOC names in game.

And as for the concept.......come on, people. Do we need to be that nitpicky? It's not a religion or a culture. It's a service. Your choice if you think it's stupid, but I think it's good to see someone doing something different for a change.

It's not different though, there are a lot of these types of names, people just take names from OOC reference and put it IC, it just gets annoying.

This is almost exaclty what I was about to say. This is wonderful. I love the services he is providing and all though there is complaints about it I know his services may be used.

We shouldn't automatically dislike it cause of it's name. If he would call himself something else (which I like to do IC) he would still be providing the same services.....would you complain then? As said in Romeo and Juliet a Rose called by any other name would still smell as sweet.......so I say ignore the name and give him credit for wanting to make the little love birds in Cantr, lifes more easier.

I believe the player found an untapped form of bussiness....such as a "flower shop" type thing. In Cantr the name Cupid is just a name..it means nothing more, until that persons bussiness thrives, then Cupid will begin to earn the definition of an assistant to love. I say let cupid do his thing. :D

The thing is, he said he'd deliver jewelry and flowers, but I don't know if many, if any people at all in the Doryiskom region have seen flowers before. Especially not the new char like himself. That has to be a CR breach, right? I'll paste it, one second:

1017-7: Cupid says: "I need a shop because I plan on selling flowers and jewlery as well."

there are no flowers on that entire continent.
this isn't a real serious brech, but someone should probably talk to him in game or out.

"Cupid" can still do his thing, he just needs to do it with what is available, but if this person went into the portion that tell him how to make clothing, The list states things about jewely and flower crowns, now I don't have a character in the Doryiskom region , does the clothing area say the same thing? if it does, then there is a place for him to see it is possable to make them, even if the material is not available. ?? is it still CR breech??
