Small CR Breach In Siom

Postby metcalfedj » Thu Nov 11, 2004 8:35 pm

I have a small CR breach to report from Siom. A character Called Alouette currently in the Siom (Courthouse And Jail) building has been speaking spanish when he hasn't travlled from a spanish speak zone and so would not know the language existed. I have been told this is a CR breach from Junesun on the Cantr Chat and so thought it best to report it. The character does mainly speak english however he makes passing comments in spanish about 4 or 5 times i day. I just thought i would inform you. Thanks

I don't think this should be a be a capital rule breech unless the opposite is also true. I made two characters in the spanish section, but 80% of the people there ONLY speak GERMAN. Most maps are in spanish, especially text maps, but I've just seen a visual map, very nice one too, but all the writing is in GERMAN.

If were keeping just english in the engish area and letting other languages run loose, that's a bit racist.

I'm pretty sure that is against the rules too, unless characters from the german area have in some way colonized that section.

Yeah its the same for any language. The character can only speak the language of the language zone that they are in, unless the character has travelled from one language zone to another. So unless all the people have travelled from one language zone to another language zone that you have seen, they are all CR breaches

The Spanish and German areas are very close, and there is at least one town that is a spawnpoint for English, Spanish, and German. I think this is because, for some languages, the presence of a char who speaks that language makes the location a spawnpoint for other of the same language.

But, a char shouldn't automatically pick up a new language just by going to a location where it is spoken. I've seen some well RPed situations where chars make contact w/ other language areas, and take several days to get basic communications going well.

This information presents some revalations for me. I haven't been amazed like this since when I was a new player and realised there was more than one landmass.

So ... All the playable languages in Cantr are on different parts of the same map? Like the real world, it's obvious now, but for the game, amazing. But couple that info with the new lands claim we only have even seen 25% of the landmass in the game... The world is a big place.

Back to the discussion at hand. So, if characters for english, german, and spanish can all potentially spawn at the same point, how are we to identify CR breeches? Siom is in the english area, but if the player had picked spanish and had enough characters in Siom, they would spawn in Siom? Or is that only if enough players from the spanish area are in Siom?

Having a char of a particular language will not have any bearing on where any of your other characters will spawn. The spawning mechanism considers the language you select for a char, and then puts that char in one of the designated spawnpoints for that location. If that char travels, the locations it visits (in some cases), becomes a spawnpoint for that language.

The spawning mechanism also considers the population of a town. A town with many speakers of a language is more likely to spawn a new member in that language than is a town which is only has an explorer passing through who speaks the language.

Please take this info as only a generalization, since my understanding of this is pieced together from various bits of info in related posts. It may be that some languages are handled differently, due to issues of game balance like how many chars exist with some languages.

So there is a small chance that you can be spawned in an empty area where someone has simply passed through?

Yes, my first character was spawned in a place where no one was there.

Hmm...I don't like that. There should have to be at least one person there for someone to spawn...otherwise it would be impossible for some regions to be totally deserted for a longer time.

There has to have been at least two characters - not necessarily at the same time - in a location within 12 hours to make a spawnpoint. If I remember right, anyway. And that also only applies to Dutch and English, doesn't it?

I am alouette

Postby pepetrueno » Sun Nov 14, 2004 11:32 am

I am Alouette and the person who plays the character of Alouette, and I would like to explain my point of view about this rule breach:::
First I have to say I started to play this game to improve my English and I was achieving it and having a peaceful life when suddenly all was wrong I was fooled, badly wounded, kidnapped and imprisoned, so I must express my feelings in some way and I don't know how to express this in English so I started to use my native language to insult the person who had did that.
And as I said the person who warns me about this I would like to be allowed to use this kind of expressions because my character is like this, he is a foreigner
I apologize all people who coulld be upset by this success except the guy who is the agent of my situation
