possible vengeful moron

Several days ago a man named Shadow Heart was killed in Seatown Lakeside (he was first attacked for refusing to introduce himself, and then when he woke up and started carrying on about how he'd already given his name he was asked to leave, only he made the poor decision of threatening us with the Rangers before taking off...).

Then, a couple of days later another man named Capt John shows up and says he needs a report of any recent murders, but then he leaves when asked to explain why.

Well, okay, nothing overly suspicious about that, except that when I go to Seatown Garden a few days later I see a note has been left there, talking about a man named John who reported that people were chased down and killed in Seatown Lakeside, even when they'd already repeatedly given their names. The note also said this 'John' had decided to go to the Rangers for help.

I don't know, when all the details are added up it just sounds like a skewed description of Shadow Heart's killing, and a little too suspicious to be a coincidence to me; especially considering the fact that Capt John was only in town for an hour or so, and therefore couldn't have witnessed anyone being killed in the first place.

I think it maybe 2 different John's. When I seen the note I thought it was written by the John in Seatown.

On 979, John, a man in his twenties, arrived in Seatown Garden from Seatown Lakeside.

I'm not sure of the exact time this guy left Lakeside, (though I could get the approximate date of the Shadow Heart incident if I went back to Lakeside and read the town history), but I know the date is at least very close.

Okay, still waitign to hear of the PD about this, but I just had a question. If it does turn out this guy plays both characters, but he's already convinced the Rangers to come after us, does that mean everyone involved is still going to have to deal with the consequences in-game? I don't see any way around it, but it would suck if people end up losing their characters over one idiot's selfish little CR breach...

If the char Capt John continues to discuss it from this point on, please let us know.

Guess that means you dealt with him then, thanks :)

One more question, though: I'm still a little unsure as to what my character should do about the note. Technically it never should have existed, and it's been taken away by a guard now so it can't mislead anyone else, but my char has a copy and has already kicked up something of a fuss about it in-game. I don't want her to go home handing a copy of it around and possibly spreading the results of the breach further, but then again it doesn't seem realistic for her to just forget the whole thing ever happened. And if Capt John has already talked to people who don't realize what he's saying is info from a breach, we may eventually have to deal with it anyway... Also, if she sees this guy again, what should her reaction be? It really depends on whether she was supposed to have read the note or not.

LOL, sorry for all the questions, this is just the first time I've dealt with anything like this and I'm not sure how to handle it IC.

I'll PM you, so that it can be further discussed without identifying your char.
