I hope you have politely reminded them in game with an OOC whisper...

Hmm, the word order is unusual and the last word was wrong, though it could be a typo as well. It might be a non-native speaker. Anyway, tell em that Finnish isn't among the Cantr options... yet.

Wait, so you're not even allowed to speak a mix? Because someone in Blit Forest West is speaking a mix of Spanish or something, and English.. her name's Gabrielle.. is that allowed? Seems like he's doing the same..

If we're talking one or two words, then it doesn't matter, but if the language makes up a significant portion of their speach, no it isn't allowed.

It should be made more clear to new players that each character only knows one language, unless they learn another one ingame. There was this one newbie in Brunoi some time ago who thought my character was talking Japanese, though in fact he was only talking his own bastardised version of English.

I think we shouldn't be that strict with languages not yet implemented. There will be hardly a chance that anyone speaking such a language will actually find someone to communicate with. There should be no difference between using Finnish and using a language completely made up. And that's allowed I think. Or am I missing a point somewhere?

Sane people don't use made up languages. And how could another person understand a made up language? Tell 'em to come to irc, chat with me and wichi.

This was discussed in within the PD and while a formal statment was never issued, it was clear that using real-world languages outside of their proper language areas (regardless of whether or not a language area exists for it) will not be allowed.
