Multiple Suggestion.
We all know Cantr is a slow game that we all have to wait alot for a responce or for projects to finish. That 200 min. limit is a bit annoying if you are waiting for answers and stuff from other people and you can't stay on the game and keep checking because your timer will run out. Why not make another game without the time limit that we all can play while we are waiting that will also show our characters on a side menu. When something happens the text of your char. will go bold just like it does in the game. I currently have no ideas of what the new game should be like but it should be a much faster paced game that will not require you to sit and wait for long periods of time.

A mini-game to keep players amused while they wait for things to happen in Cantr is an interesting idea (and implementable - a Java applet or Javascript application would have little to no effect on server load) but not in keeping with the spirit of Cantr. Players are not really meant to spend hours on Cantr.
Also, I don't think you could make a game like this that could keep all players interested. I can burn hours on patience games, su doku puzzles or Nethack when I feel like it, but some find them boring.
Finally, anything like this would be extra work for the Programming Department. I don't think there's any need for this, and there are definitely things in ProgD's workload that are much more useful to Cantr.

Sho pretty much summed up my thoughts at the time. We have the forum and IRC to offer opportunity for burning off excess energy. There are also plenty of other outside activities that deserve attention. There isn't any need for Cantr to become the Wal-Mart of internet entertainment. Show up, show up often, but if you need to shop for something else, go to the place next door and come back when you need some more Cantr.
That was what I was thinking.

the original reason for the time limit was to save bandwidth. Before the limit towards the end of each month the game would go down as cantr maxed its monthly bandwidth limit. I don't know if this still applies with cantr on a dedicated server, but I expect the limit stays to keep server resources low.
