The pollution of a location causes random health damage to their citizens.
Big piles of resources cause pollution (spoiled goods, pests, water contamination).
Farming for animal products (hunting) increases pollution too.
Each building, vehicle and harvesting/mining machine has a fixed pollution burden. More of these = more pollution.
"Park" and "Sewer" buildings, and "Water treatment plant" and "Recyclement plant" machines have negative pollution, but they are expensive and require greater maintenance.
Roads transport pollution. The faster the road, the faster the pollution spread. Sewers increase the amount of pollution that is sent to other locations.
