Wood Latches; simple locks

Built inside of buildings, can be locked and unlocked. While locked no one can go through. Can only be unlocked from the inside, and are relatively easy to break in to. Removes the necessity of having iron to lock a building at all. Maybe a tool that doesn't need iron that can break down these.

I can't think of the word right now: the wooden bar that you put across a door to keep it closed.

Maybe these could just be included in doors? Doors can be open or closed, and when closed this is assumed? Or maybe two types of doors, one that doesn't 'lock', and one that always 'locks' when closed.

Maybe battering rams, made of wood with a knife, would break doors down.
