I would like to say that I am trying hard to explain my side of this argument without revealing the tactics my thieves and spies have used... (yes, I had a spy. And numerous thieves.) Don't try to tell me I don't know how hard it is to be a thief in Cantr, I probably have a better idea than you. Seriously, it isn't hard to be a thief if you know what you are doing. Of course, if you get it wrong you'll fail badly. But that's only fair.

I'm thinking that a fair number of people have a glorified view of thieves in real life...

Well ya! Of course it would... Why wouldn't it. EVERYONE would have to choice to steal. Just as everyone can do anything like the next person...

If and only if you had some way of detecting thieves (if you are very aware of your surroundings, you'd see it happening), then I'd say have this implimented.

With the new implementation of skills, maybe that could depend on your stealth skill or something. Not only would it determine if the person you're stealing from catches you, but it would also determine how many of the passer-by see you doing it.

No.

No.

No.

Why is it that Cantr players have no imagination? USE THE CURRENT SYSTEM! There is no need to program new methods. BE CREATIVE! Believe me, there are many ways to be successful without working...

Let the programmers do work that actually benefits Cantr!

uh... have they been doing that so far? and plus.. it's not like you can actually mis a mesage that sais "a man in his thirties enters room" i mean.. it's not like we actually have any ventelation shafts's to sneak around in if an evil scyentest is trying to take over the world(i know.. not going to happen.. but just look at tribe blackrock) and i would REALLY love to see this on nonirok island. if it happens in there... the Mac gregors.. tribe blackrock.. and the karnorn republic are going to be up to there necks in captured spy's. THINK OF THE FUN!

Back for a post, I was playing and a brainstorm moment hit me. I don’t know if this belongs here but Rkl is on the ball locking repeat posts so I don’t want to get in front of that train.

I think some way of getting stuff out of another persons inventory without killing them. (thus the pit pocket/thievery thread) But I don’t think it would be a tool for thieves only.

Ex. The town leader has been sleeping for a week, and you need a key that only they hold. Right now all you can do is A) kill the leader, take the key. B) Break the lock, waste 200g of iron and open that important building up to anyone on the street. C) Wait who knows how long for said leader to wake up.

>I suggest a project that takes 1 or 2 hours.
>People don’t see it start, but do see it finish - “you see Sneeky Pete take a bone knife from Sleeping Tom”
>And the item taken from the inventory is selected at random, either all of a resource (300g of tomatoes), a stand alone item (bone knife) or a note. Maybe an ability to specify weather you want a resource, item or note. This way nobody can use this to peek into what your holding.
>It would also be visable on the events page so an observant town guard would be able to stop a pit pocket before he gets away with something, but actually has to do some work to see it.

one problem with that fortune cookie, you could pack your inventry with thousands of notes and it would mean that nothing other than notes would ever be stolen
