Spawning Notification

I just saw on the people page of one of my characters that a new girl had spawned. She hasn't said anything and I don't think anyone else in town noticed her. That got me thinking.
Someone appearing in a town would be something worth noticing, but most people don't notice a newspawn unless they talk.
A notification on the events page when someone spawns would make sense. That way the newspawns don't always have to start the conversation. And I think it would help the new players, who may be more cautious and are trying to feel the game out before they talk, get involved instead of feeling left out right off the bat.

I think this is a great idea..since new players are confused..(sometimmes :p ) Maybe this would be a way to keep them from being grab and run spawns!
...As long as other players take notice of them....

Yeah, it's very simple, that way newspawns get an introduction the instant they arrive, rather than having to figure out what the talk button does.
You see a woman in her twenties spawn in the central area of Unknown Location

And that might also remove the problem that characters stay lit up until something happens... since you would already have an event - You were spawned at unknown location.

That would certainly have helped one of my chars who was so timid, she would only speak to those that spoke to her first. She was lucky that she spawned in Lake Village, but even so, she still died of starvation when she made the mistake of going travelling.
I vote for this too.

Yet another vote for.
Although, the word "spawn" might not be appropritate ingame. Suggestions for an alternative:
"You see a man in his twenties arrive at unknown location." (similar to when they travel there, but doesn't mention from where)
"You see a woman in her twenties appear at unknown location."
Others?

Spawn is appropriate.... it is what they do... they are spawned. They have a spawnplace and spawndays.

I think this is an excellent suggestion and should encourage rentention of new players. It's relatively easy to to implement as well. I've moved this to accepted suggestions.
Hellzon does raise a good point - We need a suitable worded event for both the new person and any observers .
IMHO references to spawning shouldn't really be made in the event it's really an OOC reference though is very commonly used IG (and in the new character creation code

) . The button for a new character is tagged with "Create a new character" but I'm also not keen on "You see a man in his twenties created in an unknown location"
If people can suggest a few more options for the wording ...
(and personally the more I think about it I'm liking Seko's suggestion

)

I still like spawn, it is what happens...but how about...
A man in his twenties appears...(verb: come into being or existence, or appear on the scene)
A man in his twenties materialize...(verb: come into being; become reality)

Oh, oh, I have a better one! ... "Ping!"

I think it should be as neutral as possible so the new character sees something like
"You are in an unamed location where you see 20 people"
And the other 20 people just see
"You see a new woman in her twenties"
Keeping it as neutral as possible helps to keep IG theories of character creation in game and not guided by the event message.

I think those suggestions are most neutral and takes care of the objective.
