Gas tanks and consuming fuel

Vehicles that have an engine should be required to consistently burn fuel. Not just put fuel in them once and they're done. A gas tank will obviously hold the fuel and should be able to be easily made to avoid too much trouble for people wanting to put gas tanks on their already made vehicles at first and then slightly more difficult after 2 weeks or so. A refinery for oil could be good for making gas, but perhaps ethanol when alcohol is introduced can be used too.
This may make things harder for people in the Cantr universe, but i'm sure they'll adapt. If not, oh well it's life...and vehicles that can run forever after they're built is not how things really work.

I was about to put this under another thread - it's been suggested before but doesn't have its own thread as yet...
I like it - but pollution should be programmed in first...

First off, I hate this idea and it will stifle exploration and trade on land and sea if boats need fuel too.
Secondly, if it does hit boats, some other things should be available for boats, such as sails, oars, paddles, and poles. Poles mainly for the rafts. Remember, people are power too.
Lastly, I hate this idea. Just rename your car the Flintstone-mobile and realise that sabering a guy in a car makes it move slower.
In conclusion, I hate this idea.

I hate the idea too. Like cars weren't rare enough already.

Sorry but people work hard enoght to get vehicels alredy with very few being aroud and hardley any privetly owened people dont want to go and get fuel every time there car runs out
+ it would be hard to know how much fuel the vehicel would have and fuel consumpoion would have to be really balanced and thats just something to be constenley argued over

I agree ... I do not like this Idea either...

I disagree. Vehicles with engines should require fuel, and with this, they should also be made easier to make as Jos desired. This would help counterbalance the bicycles and other non-engine vehicles. They would become more valuable in areas with little or no available oil/gas. I think it'd be interesting if different fuels could be used though, such as ethanol from fermenting fruit, so this change could coincide with alcohol
To make things even more interesting, should the programming infrastructure be properly in place, we could even have coal or steam driven vehicles.

...
"areas with little or no available oil/gas" ?
So ... like all of cantr?
That would spring into existance a desert empire of oil barons. And it still doesn't adress the issue that sabering a guy on a car makes him drive off slower.
Say it with me:
"Flintstone-mobile"

Theoretically I agree, but practically it will never work out. It would be great to see certain hills and desert regions to become the Cantrian equivalent to Saudi Arabia...but that would require trade and....well.....we all know how that goes.
It still requires a lot of cooperation to get vehicles efficiently, and once you get one, maintaining it would be the rest of your existence. Maybe once it is still a bit more efficient to produce a vehicle, then we could revisit this. Or if we get an enormously productive machine to mass produce fuel, then that would be something.

Boats would not require gas because boats do not have engines. Like I said, only vehicles with boats. Maybe Cantrarians are too young for such a development to occur.

Until we get motor boats, then we would be back to considering it again.
Wouldn't it be cool to send big steam ships and eventually full blown freighters off to help speed up intercontinental trade? Of course, we'd want to have lockable cabins and storage aboard then.

Use food as fuel.
