Cancelation of Projects

You should allow a project to be cancelled if it hasn't been completed after a set number of days such as like 3 years.

The good news is the ability to cancel projects (and recover materials) has already been accepted as a suggestion , the bad news is it's currently waiting implementation .

Moved to Accepted because there is no forum copy of this idea being accepted

So how did it get accepted? :) ... This is not a sleek trick to get something approved automatically, is it? :P

I'm only going by the Flyspray task 87 , opened by you and assigned to Jur :)

Also we (ProgD collectively - well you and me ) have been telling people reporting old building projects that this will be implemented.

It's only on the Forums where there is no record

Oh, wait, I misread the whole suggestion in the first place :) ... I thought we were talking about cancelling projects, but we're talking about expiration of projects, which, indeed, is accepted / under development / etc.

By any chance would it be possible for people to get a small amount of the materials used back when a project expires?

Project cancellation

Simple...The initiator of a project would be able to cancel a project, and any resources used would be returned to the people that used them, and if they're not there, then they drop on the ground.

Good example of this being useful:
One of my chars wants to grill meat (his first time), so he uses a fire pit, but he dont got any wood. Cancels that project, then creates one for grilling with dung. Uses the meat, then tries the dung, but he's only got fresh dung! Now he can't dry the dung because the fire pit is being used by his grillin' project, and he can't cancel the project cuz he already used meat on it! Whatever is/am he/I going to do? (This is a true story, sadly).

I looked at the link in the 'Project cancellation' thread (the locked one) and are you guys really going to make projects decay every hour?

I do want them to decay, especially buildings and landmarks and things, but I don't like the idea of it being quite that fast...I know of a lot of cases where a person or a town is making a building or boat and has to wait a long time before they get all the resources. And they can't exactly carry that much stone or wood around with them, so what they have gets added to the project.

And I can think of plenty of other exampls of starting a project but not working on it right away, or pausing in the middle...I just wish it was up to the chars whether to get rid of an old project or not.
