Jewelry..yes..that was what I was here for..right..right. What more can we do with jewelry? We've got all the rings I can think of! and necklaces..so what else? No engraving please, we can't do that yet. So..there can't be any personalization for now. I can't help with the combs and what not...I'd like those..but can't really help.

I suggested a "slave" bracelette once. Anthony said it wasn't possible, but surely there must be some way to introduce a slave bracelette, even if you could only describe that it was around the wrist and finger, but make it so it would be like wearing a bracelette when a character has put it on. (Do you understand what I'm saying?) People would still be able to wear yet another ring, with the slave bracelette on, because the slave bracelette would only be taking up the bracelette slot. (Would only be taking up the bracelette spot, even though the description would describe the ring being linked from a chain on the bracelette to a persons finger.)

About jewelry, why not animals? We could carve some charm bracelets, pendants, etc. in their shape. Besides the decoration value, I'm sure they could be used in all sorts of symbolic ways for guards or leaders.
Ideally there's be a nice long list of animals to choose from, but I guess that could be breachy if people started carving animals they couldn't possible have seen...so, I don't know, are there any animals that exist on every continent?

I for one would gladly wear a necklace that had a rabbit attached.

how about only animals you have seen? i don't know anything about programming, but is that to hard to do?

That would be ideal, however I think that would require a total revamp of the building lists (correct me if I am wrong). Oh, and that was an excellent post both in content, spelling, and grammer (throw some caps in there and it would be near perfect)!

Animal figures or figurines would be totally cool.
They could be carved out of bone or ivory or wood for pendants hanging from string. Not a metal chain please! Give k-island a break already! The string will be hard enough on them.
And animal scuptures made out of clay. Let's use the clay for something!
Also, lei, please (flower necklaces). And bead necklaces made from wood, bone, ivory, clay, etc.
Thanks.

*bump* Since we got musical items, I don't see why beauty items would be much more difficult. The events would need to be written by type, for example "You see a man in his twenties looking into a silver mirror" or "You see a woman in her thirties brushing her hair with a bone comb". These would be the "action items".
Another thing would be stuff you can put in your hair, like beads, feathers and ribbons. That might be a bit harder to program. I think there should be no limit to how many beads you put into your hair (well, actually, the total of additions should weight less than a kilo since otherwise your scalp would stretch, but anyway, there wouldn't be strict limits as there are for clothing).
Types of events for action items:
combing one's hair with a comb
brushing one's hair with a brush
looking into a mirror / looking at one's reflection in a mirror / admiring oneself in a mirror
Types of combs
bone
wood
copper
bronze
tin
silver + nickel
gold + nickel
iron
tortoiseshell
Types of brushes
Bristles:
boar bristles (a new resource acquired by killing wild boars)
wooden bristles
metal bristles with a rubber tip (modern)
(irl they also used fibres acquired by crushing yucca, but we don't have that in Cantr)
Handle and base:
bone
wood
silver (+nickel)
gold (+nickel)
bronze
tin
iron
tortoiseshell
Types of mirrors
Real mirrors
Base: window glass and silver for backing
Frame:
silver (+nickel)
gold (+nickel)
bronze
tin
iron
steel?
Primitive mirrors (no glass, just polished metal)
copper
bronze

Can't promise the programming part, but we can at least write them up and then make them visible to other players. We could use more roleplaying items to make and work for.
If the programming gets added later it will be a pleasant surprise.

I think there should be lots of things you could wear in your hair, even if it was just in place of hats.
Like one of those combs that Japanese ladies used to where?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Japanese-Co ... dZViewItem
Or ribbons or fancy hair clips even just some sort of hair tie, or beads like Seko said...but the cool thing is that certain ones could have a description attached that would describe the person as having a pony tail, or pigtails, or braids, or even short hair. This would let people customize their chars more.
You know what I mean, like:
"A thin strip of leather decorated with bone beads and feathers is woven in and out of her long braids."
(Okay that's lame but you get the idea. And it would say 'his' if it was a guy wearing it.)

I could add hair accessories as clothing but then you could only wear one, and in one way. *sigh* The same as with how you can't take a kerchief and made a headband out of it, no, you gotta have things separately.
