Could dung be added to domesticated animal harvestables? requires dung-fork to harvest.

I searched for several pages and didn't see a topic on this, if it is a duplicate, delete it :)

You know, the mental image that came up from harvesting dung from domesticated animals using a dung fork makes me a little reluctant to agree with the suggestion. Perhaps, instead, dung should accumulate automatically when you have tame animals standing around in a town.

How about just a general "collecting dung" project that you can access from the Locations page, with output dependent on how many animals there are in the location?

That'd work too. I like the idea of there being some extra work involved in having domesticated animals, though, such as feeding them (implemented, obviously) and cleaning up after them (which would fulfill the function of this suggestion)

I think someone noticed that dung appears on the ground even though no one was dropping any. If that is the case, that would be the best solution.

it just struck me as odd once that the best source of dung was to kill wild animals and tear it out of their bodies. You'd think animal ranches would be the superior source compared to hunting.

(sorry for the typo! was on my phone!)

Yes, I certainly would think that. (I assume you meant to type 'animal ranches'?) I think yours is a great suggestion.
I am only disagreeing with the part that implies manual extraction. I suppose now that I think about it, the purpose of the dung fork was about following the animals and cleaning up after them. My confusion about the actual mechanism involved came from the fact that the animal would be the interface for starting the project.

So, in the spirit of the original suggestion, perhaps the act of having domestic animals should open up a 'fresh dung' resource type in the Location tab, which can be gathered by hand (for the unlucky) or by dung fork.

I like the idea of having some randomly generate on the ground each day a bit better. But then again, wild animals should leave droppings as well, so this is sort of inconsistent. Only domesticated animals poop? And wild animals just hold it in until they are killed? Ha!

Fresh dung _is_ added to the ground in locations with domesticated animals. Wild animals poop out of town, where they also reside. :)

They're just more modest.

Could move this to implemented then.
