I would like to know what do you think about the possibility to identify yourselfs in the game with your email or your nickname (like in the forums, for example). This is intended to help new players with the first logins in Cantr.

First and next one to. It take long for new players to remember their ID. I totaly support this idea.

Yes, we should probably do this.

Last week I couldn't make CantrSpy work and took me long time to remember my ID

Please help old players too.

But aren't you one of those people whose browsers save the ID and password in the login fields? Just log out of Cantr and make like you're going to log back in. Easy as pie. Which isn't all that easy, by the way, but who cares?

If we will implement this we probably keep backward compatible. So you still can use ID and it will be unique, but I think we can give people posibility to change their login nicknames. So in this way old player will can get his own login nicknames too.

Thank you. My ID is burned into my memory. I'd be pretty upset if I had to give it up.

I love my numerical ID too, but the idea, as said psychowico, would be to add the posibility to identify yourself with the email or nickname. Something like the old menu for building in game; you can choose between the new or the old.

Wouldn't this make it too easy for people to hack into your account?

No. It make it harder. No when you try "guess" password - you not must know another player login, you can just "decrease" or "increase" you own id by one and test, this will probably exist. But if player make you login and password this same - it would be his own fault

Own fault or not, if players are allowed to use their forum names as log ins instead of their assigned, confidential number, it could cause problems.

I wouldn't have a problem with this being rolled out, as long as it was optional.
I had an account hacked before, on a music site and forum, and it was the result of someone I pissed off persevering with my email address, and broke the password (managed to get a reset). :?

People get pissed off all the time in Cantr....

I see that people a little afraid almost all changes. This system (login, not id) are used almost everywhere in web. If somebody is careless that always can be "hacked". Id isn't help you in any way. If you afraid about you account give to it secure password, that have special symbols and not meaning anything - and just store it by program like KeePass.. Or remember it using some 'mnemonic device'.

It's a bit of a leap to suggest that people are afraid of all changes here, isn't it?
I think you'll find that most seem to be okay with it... as an option.

This whole game has been hacked. No doubt people have had experiences of being hacked on other web-spaces... so, you can't blame people for being a little cautious.
