A simple feature so we don't have to muck around taking notes out of envelopes and putting them back in again. I'm sure I am not the only one who uses them to organise their inventory.

this likely would be a difficult thing to implement since some are sealed..

Would be as simple as putting a view icon next to each item on the contents list. You can't view the contents if the envelope is sealed.

This has been discussed in several other threads if I'm not mistaken. I did a search, but I didn't feel like copying and pasting all the links.

I was trying to add it to script, but unfortunately notes in envelopes are not recognized as items held by the envelopebearer.
It's one of the most useful suggestions, it was suggested some/much time ago (somewhere).
For now envelopes are useful only as dustbin for trash notes, after that and some other very nice and small changes they'd be very useful way to store data. Some of my characters have to do with lots of notes, so they'll praise something like that every Cantr hour.

Would it be an idea to implement a folder/binder of some kind, that acts as the envelope but allows reading of notes inside?
That would also be great for characters writing books and diaries.

Bump. As addition I suggest possibility of reading notes in envelopes while envelopes are on the ground. I think we should first try to make envelopes useful and then think about new features.

If we can magically see inside envelopes, we shouldn't call them envelopes anymore.

In real life, you have to pull the note out of the envelope in order to see the note. Keep it like this in Cantr, except maybe try to reduce the number of clicks it needs to get the notes out of the envelopes.

In rl you have to read a note to copy it and usually pick up paper from the ground before reading that. There is no necessity of complicating things which can be easy.
Envelope is not the best name for a note container and I think we shouldn't be strictly limited by the meaning of that word. We can leave envelopes as they are and create "new" book or other container type with advanced options, but it would only mean doing "better envelopes" as other object type. Or maybe you want to have books as manufacturable and valuable note-container and envelopes as basic container?
