It is normal eating.
Food to mouth = eating
I like the button, myself, and it states rather clearly what it means.

The idea was to replace the "eat" on the button with something that doesn't need to be translated. Just an idea spooky and I had. (Hah, I
did name you

)

I thought the idea was what you said, combined with making the button more generic for possible expanded application? In which case, the new proposal doesn't support expanded use.

I support something that looks like Pac-man.
It says eat without using utensils. Also I think the radial background color makes the icons difficult to read. A solid background color with narrow 3d borders would make them clearer and also easier to reproduce in new buttons even if the original background image wasn't available.

Well, making new icons is not that huge an effort and on a second thought, using the same button for eating, playing music and rolling dice doesn't make it exactly easier for a new player to determine what a certain item is good for.
Anyway, the icon is just supposed to be an offer. Maybe it could be used when eating for roleplaying purposes is implemented.
edit:
Pacman eating healing food:
Pacman eating conventional food:

I like Piscator's idea for conventional food

Some kind of heart version icon would make the most sense as many popular games use a "heart" icon to depict a character's health.

That's because they are ALL, American based.
Although I think the heart or a broken heart with a ban-aid would work.

We wouldn't mind seeing what symbols you see around where you live if you would show us.

Lol, the institution I work for has this symbol

There's no point in seeing country specific icons, since as we've demonstrated, not everyone will know what they are. We should shoot for general symbols..
Both Dudel's idea, and pisc's pacman eating + icon.

Red cross is fairly universal.

Meh, that doesn't matter. It can still stimulate an idea by mixing and matching any we see...

Yes, I was about to say the same thing.
