Makes sense to me.

Awesome. When it will be implemented?

For the more complex vehicles, instead of breaking them down into their scrap parts even if they were assembled that way, I think breaking them down into the assembly line parts would be the best option. After all, if it's a truck and it's already made, it already has a truck frame and tires obviously. And then after that they can be disassembled by sledgehammer into three-quarters or so of their original scrap metal (if there isn't more than one way (i.e. copper vs. steel vs. tin) to make it).

Like?

Like!

Came up a while ago, bloody good idea!

Would love to hear some authoritative objection to the process of.

Primitive vehicles broken down into resources.

Complex vehicles broken down into components.

Or some reasonable explanation as to why it was not done months ago.

Letting people turn wooden carts back into wood wont break the game. Tearing complex vehicles down into primitive resources could let a lot of iron and rubber into the market. Just taking them back into components doesn't seem a problem.

If there is work involved, let me at it! worst case scenario I get stumped and go quiet. (hands up who wants me to go quiet)

Since this is accepted, you can create a post for it in the Development forum/Pending Projects, and link to this thread. I guess that's the fastest way to get things done. :)

Brother, if I knew how to get things done here, I wouldn't be more frustrated than a first year, in a brothel, with no cash.

I have come to avoiding anything that requires any programming at all (even simple programming requests with attached code seems to slide)

I have gently bumped threads for months on end.

Doug seems bright and wise. Piscator seems like a worthy guardian against inappropriate change, even if he/she goes further than I would like.

Other people pop in and out.

Some sort of organizational map would be wonderful, I think I might have the ability to pop a new thread, link it, and then from my experience watch it wither and die.

I don't have the authority to do so as far as I know.

And really, I have passed through enthusiasm, exuberance, hope, and a desperate desire to learn.
I have read the last six or so years available on the forum, presented my findings, modified my behavior, still been ignored, and am a few short weeks, after six months and lord alone knows how many hundreds of hours, away from just giving up.

A fast way to get things done? I have been unable to detect any way at all of getting things done!

Given how little I have seen done in 2011 I am wondering if there is any (fast?) way of getting things done.

I haven't seen any progress on Decay system reform, I haven't seen any progress on exit polling, (even the simple does anyone answer a single question) I am not even seeing any acknowledgement (apart from historical questions that got bogged down) that a system that produces but does not consume inevitably, without population growth just leaves us swimming in resources.

I have encounterd some bright and brilliant individuals, organizationally we seem as retarded as a bunch of boy scouts that just caught their first glimpse of some girl guides and cant even light a fire.

You, Echo have been active here for a lot longer than me, you have a chair. Pop the thread! Ping another chair to pop the thread.

Why do you lay this at my feet? you have the connections, you have the resources, nothing I have done has brought me anything other than frustration.

I'm not sure this is the right place or time for this discussion, but I'll reply nevertheless. Hopefully this can make more forum users aware of the state of things.

Personally, I often have difficulties grasping your posts. Finding the relevant information between smart remarks, anecdotes and off topic statements is not easy. Most of the time I'm on the forums nowadays, I skim through things when I have a minute or two free at work. Skimming your posts doesn't work, because I can't find the relevance easily. That's why I don't reply that often.

I'm sure Doug and Piscator do their job well.

You do have -and have always had since your first day on the "job"- write access to the Development forums.

Currently we have 0 active programmers in the ProgD. We do have 4-5 applicants going through various stages of training (and a couple of members lurking, doing some DB changes, managing forums, etc, but not coding). But that all boils down to that they need me to give them tasks, check/upload their code and eventually give them access to what they should have access to. It's a slow process and right now I'm very busy at work. Cantr code is a mess. It's difficult to work with, and making changes to it often produce more bugs and unforseen features.

We also do have a priority system, where the members of GAB have agreed on what is most important, and that is fixing serious bugs and staff tools that help us run the game smoothly. So if you have failed to see any progress at all in your two favourite topics, maybe browse the Development forum a little and see that some progress really has happened with close to no programming resources at all.

Thank you for taking the time, God alone knows how difficult it is for people who don't have English as a first language to understand anything I say. I do respond to feedback.

0 active programmers makes a lot of sense. You have seen what I can flip up in an afternoon after three years away from a twelve month traineeship in programming. Give me one real thing to dig my teeth into and I'll be a fool or a king.

My real skills are in talking to a room full of people, I rant and rave, throw in metaphors, and in a real room get feedback, in a real time interaction I use that feedback to hone what I am saying and build consensus and feedback. Here? I am a fish our of water. I Talk too big, the long termer's just ignore me, the active responders flick me off as an arrogant tosser.

I got all sorts of rights in my successful application to the PD and RD. I am not actually an arrogant tosser, so I hold back unless someone specifically gives me a right.

If I could offer a suggestion, if someone who has a good awareness of what is going on, could take a project or two and break it down into smaller units then prehaps some of us up and comers could have something better to do than post things. I will sort paperclips into colours for the good of cantr.

The best I have seen so far is one person being tasked to make a candelabra in the RD. A good task, well done.

I have received feedback and responded to it here before. Don't shake the doom rattle, demand nothing from the ProgD, keep it concise. For a couple of weeks I used a format where I posted a

____
concise description
____
the story line.
_____

Format.

That didn't seem to work at all either.

I got told to ping threads that were worth following and for the last three months I have done mostly that.

I am just a soul who's intentions are good. I have followed every suggestion I have received, Been very active for half a year.

Someone please give me something to do.

It's only taken me 5 months to say this...

I created a post in pending projects 3 weeks before you posted this. There's a flaw in the system right there!

It's possible to be implemented for all vehicles and it's partially enabled so I consider it more done than not done.
