Only several hundred times.

Good, I was afraid it would have been suggested more times.

And what was the outcome?

As with most suggestions, while most approved of it in concept, it got bogged down in arguments over details, and died.

That sucks. As I think it would really help with losing less people.

Deleted a few OT posts. The Suggestion forum is not a general chit-chat forum.

If they are already hitting the X then we have already lost them. We shouldn't be looking at making quitting harder, we should be looking at making it to where they DON'T want to quit to begin with.

And for that matter---People can't be held to hold on to something they have no desire to have. Sure some people make mistakes and realize it later, but when they come back a second time they are also more likely to think twice about hitting the x as quickly as they had before.

It's already been made more difficult. It used to be that you just clicked on the x and it was gone. Now you're posed the question, "Are you sure you want to quit?" And if people aren't seriously thinking about what the consequences will be if they continue by hitting the next button, then apparently they really do want to quit at that moment in time.

Well you might click on the X accidentally and then your account is gone.

And yes the point is that people want to quit at that moment because of something that happened in game that upset a person. And I'm talking about just that, things in game that upset a person and because of that hit the X. While they might regret it the next day.

If you really want to quit what does a few days mean? Just don't check it and act like its already gone, not that hard.

Maybe if we do implement the one day death delay, we could make it so that unsubbed accounts can be recovered by the player during that 24 hour period. However, they'd have to log in and do it.

You do know it requires typing your password to confirm, right?

I was thinking it could send an email but then I thought wait, if someone knows a password to an account then they could also change the email to anything.

If someone is that impulsive, then it's a good lesson to learn: never make a decision being upset or angry.

If the system actually asks for your password to confirm, it eliminates the "accidental" component, so I don't see the use of a "re-thinking" time.

Exactly my point.

I support this idea, as it would make it much easier to just revive the account, instead of restoring up to 15 characters (with all those memories, names, stats, etc that gets lost), after an account gets hacked or the password otherwise stolen/figured out.

It actually has been implemented by one of the aspirants, but never commited to the repository.
