When you click 'use mirror':

Code: Select all

2705-6.31: You see in the mirror a man in his seventies. He wears: a close-fitting, full length leather surcoat, featuring a row of tiny metal buttons countered by strong loops of leather. Its hem flows magnificently with the slightest movement. The high collar and shoulders accented by thick epaulettes bestow an air of strength upon the wearer;
# a pair of leather pants which hug close to the skin, leaving little to the imagination;
# a pair of leather boots with cords of leather to fasten them securely around the ankle. They rise about a hand above the ankle and are thicker about the heel for more support.

# You can see him holding:
# a new crossbow;
# a brand new crowbar;
# a brand new iron shield;

And others get:

Code: Select all

2705-6.31: You see a man in his seventies checks himself in the mirror

Simple mirror
Mirror with a wooden frame
Mirror with a golden frame
etc..

Base material is glass and silver for the 'simple mirror', and then we can add a variety of frames.

When You click "use mirror' you just get the discription of your char (the way others see him). Simple as that.

Nice for RP.

Discussed already on polish forum.

I don't think the viewing and events messages are necessary. You can see those anyway. I would LOVE a mirror, but I think that using it should be left to RP.

That is the reason why robin_waw suggested it - to check on your own how a character is seen by others. On the character page you see the full list of clothes, even those not visible for others.

Of course, I'm totally for it, even if it was only a rp tool without a new functionality. :)

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. I like this.

Yes, could be fun, and as stated, there currently is no way to see yourself as others see you.

Perhaps the 'look in the mirror' should be put in the events list as a list to how other chars see yours, to avoid cluttering it.

Is it difficult to code it?

I think the biggest issue is how to display it.

Bump!

I'd like both portable mirrors and furniture type mirrors.

A few examples:
- Bronze mirror (with wooden frame) [furniture]
- Large silver mirror (with silver frame) [furniture]
- Large glass mirror (with wooden frame) [furniture]
- Small bronze mirror [portable]
- Small silver mirror [portable]
- Small glass mirror [portable]
- Diamond studded foldable mirror in gold and silver.... and so on. :)

I very much like the idea of seeing yourself as others do, although the character page has become better and better at displaying yourself (thanks to Seko's hard work).

I think there was another idea about signaling between ships, which would get closer to being possible to implement with portable mirrors.

With the improved character page, would mirrors still have to do something or would it be enough for them to be pure RP items?

Maybe looking and talking to mirrors should improve your charisma skill (if implemented - credits goes to The Sims) LOL.

Maybe they could use to see through the doors.
