I hope this wasn't the nonsense that some people like to bring up, that computer generated random numbers are actually pseudorandom, and therefore not "true" as in "allowed for online-casinos" random number generation. If thats the case, and I know the people who like to complain about it, its utter nonsense. Normal calls to random() are by far random enough for any normal application/game.
Very true.

No, that was not the reason. I agree that this would be pretty ridiculous.
Apparently the suggestion has not been rejected. I found these two threads about this topic:

There was, if I am not mistaken, a third topic on creating dices, related by a discussion about random number generators in the forum.
I don't see this as very difficult to put into work - or is it? Just a random() there, a result message, new button.

I realized something unrelated, but what hf said about the notes in envelopes bug...that bug is still around. After four years.
After a brief look it seems to be mostly positive comments. I'll quote some interesting posts to this topic tomorrow.

The only possible argument against this suggestion I can see is that it would produce an awful lot of messages (depending on the game you play). Of course that's not really a problem. People could always go inside.

I really like this idea as well. Being able to gamble away your ship, iron, and clothes would be awesome!

Dice could be made of bone, wood and I suppose stone, clay and metals.
Possibly make a cup and dice game like in pirates of the carrbean. Cups can be made of woods, clays, metals.
Works something like this-
Person with cup and dice shakes the cup and reveal a 2 and a 6.
Another person with cup and dice shakes the cup and and reveals a 5 and a 4.
Regardless loving the dice ideas.

I love it..... This would surely help making things more lively.

Lots of good possibilities around this.
Dice are the simplest option.
Theres also variable skill based travel times, games and variable skill based gambling (ie cards, chess or like), strength and skill based competitions (ie sports).
All of which have been suggested, and not entirely regected.

I hope so. This is something I've wanted for a long long time, and it seems like it would be so easy to do.

2'ded, seriously its a game, the odds dont have to be up to casino standard. Also I was thinking it might be possible to have dice rolling as an instant project with instant result but would the result have to be on the next project tick if it worked this way?

There's no reason it needs to be a project, they can just treat it like playing a flute. (only this actually opens up RP possibilities while instruments are just annoying)

I was trying to think mechanics, end result would hopefully be the same
