Bikinis

It just came to my attention that bikinis become entirely invisible when worn together with any kind of trousers. I guess that's because they are considered underpants and are thus not shown when anything is worn "above" it.

My suggestion is that we should split bikinis in a top and a bottom section and consider the top an undershirt. After all, we've got already the coconut bra in this category. If we don't want to change the existing items, it would at least be nice if separate tops could be made available, so that people wouldn't have to run around virtually topless anymore.

This was brought up in RD not so long ago. Way back people complained that their panties were showing when they were wearing trousers so they were made invisible when covered by trousers or a skirt. In order to make the top visible when not wearing a shirt bikinis need to be separated into two objects and that's a major operation. Now that database access is available again, it would be possible but there is other stuff to do that has a higher priority at the moment (restoring deleted resources).

I believe they should be invisible when wearing a shirt. It is realistic. If not you would have everyone seeing the jacket, shirt, and bikini on the person at the same time. Seems weird and unrealistic if it was that way.

Well there are the few exceptions, but for the most part you can't see a womans bra under her shirt. When you walk through Walmart or any other store how many bras do you see under their shirts? Not many...

If I had it my way, I'd make the covering thing optional so that people could for example choose to reveal their shirt if they're wearing their jacket open, or to wear a ring on top of gloves or to show their bra.

Just ignore me guys... I am just being contrary today. If you told me the sky was blue I would argue that it is not blue but rather a mixture of different colors as well as rays of light.

To be honest, I do not care how the clothing is set up. I am just bored and looking to take the opposite side in any argument.

That's true. The problem is though, that you can't see the bra when just wearing trousers. (I'm saying that just in case you missed the point and weren't just answering Wiro's post .)

Why is that a major operation? If you had to "split" the object into two, so that everyone currently wearing a bikini would get a top and a bottom, I would agree. But in the meantime, you could just add the pairs of items so that everyone who considers it necessary could make herself the desired item.
It shouldn't be much of a problem either to transform today's bikinis into the bottom section and just add the bra. The first part could be done mostly by LD. I know, it would be strange when suddenly all bikini tops would disappear (although not entirely unpleasant ), but there have been much more disruptive changes in the past (e.g. changes of food values).

Why is that a major operation? If you had to "split" the object into two, so that everyone currently wearing a bikini would get a top and a bottom, I would agree. Hmm... I think it would make more sense to transform existing bikinis into bikini tops since there are already bottoms available of the same materials (loincloths), so many of the people about to lose their bottoms could find loincloths without having to manufacture something new. I could switch bikinis to undershirt category and update all the worn entries in the database before the descriptions are changed. People probably wouldn't even notice anything has changed unless they were already wearing an undershirt. After that people could be given a notification that bikini bottoms are going to vanish on day X and people who are going to end up half naked and embarrassed should put on a replacement before time runs out. LangD could write the new descriptions in advance and when time comes, someone from LangD would update all the entries so that the change would become visible approximately the same time for each language group.
