Yeah, I can understand the problem, but the solution you've gave us is just WRONG!
The production rate change - sure - it's ok, but the consumption...
So you can make 25g a day, but you eat 47g a day?
Why to care about making it, then? To stock it up for a journey? But with that rate it's better to have some baked potatoes made - only a bit less efective, but heavens faster to be made
Only down part is what about those sailors, surviving off of these foods, and had planned it out perfectly? Now they might run out, and players would be angry.
That's what makes me the most angry - I've got some charries with a noutrission based on the jerky and smoked meat, with no easily gathered food around. Now, they'll have to stop pay less attenshion to their aims, and take care of that sudden food crisis. That really messes things up, you know...
If you only have meat and need to feed a lot of people I suggest cooking meat in a large pot
Sorry, but that's not a suggestion for those who's got really only meat.
To make smoked meat you need only wood and meat.
To make jerky you need only wood, meat and some sinew for a string.
To coock meat in a large pot you need:
- meat
- wood or dung
- stone for a pot
- iron - for a chisel to make the pot
- some more stone or whatever for a deck grill / fire place / some kind of oven
And even with that, coocking was already more efective than the first two - due to production/day/consumption.
The first two was for those who couldn't afford the third thing, with the jerky only for those who hasn't got to worry about the meat process rate (only 50% output of input, for the others its much better) - and now you've messed the thing for them.
Now... everyone's complaining about how the civilation stagnates, there're no more great cities etc., so what do you do? Make the people care more about getting food, so they can spend less time on making other things, trading, developing their towns...
WOW, I'm really impressed! Way to go! Let's put Cantr into a nice, comfortable coffin and off with it!
Yay!
