string from sinew
Maybe we could use sinew insted of string in drying rack.
The idea is to use more sinew, maybe 1500 grams insted of 120 grams of string. Not everyone can get or make string so it will be good alternative for them.

Drying racks are rather productive, so they have to stay expensive in order to mantain the balance.
And a new kind of drying rack that doesn't use string and use alot of sinew instead....
Better, we could implement a different way to make string from sinew, and leave the drying rack as is.

I think making string from sinew should be a manual (machine-less) project, without any requirement of iron involved in the process.
It should be very time-consuming for balancing with the other string types. String from sinew should be rather expensive than string from hemp (x8-x10).

yes, time is crucial in it, but sinew can't repalce string... it can be use in drying rack but sinew can't raplace string it's too strechy.
only in a few places pep use sinew to dry meat, but in cantr it will be a good idea for replacement of string. I know that on syberia they use it. They dont have raw materials to make a good string, so they use sinew.
Not all location have good location to get string or to trade and get it. so sinew will be good, only the time or cost have to be greater.

No.
Indeed, sinew was the best kind of string that the Romans used in their catapults. Those made with sinew rope reached the maximum range (350/400 meters tells the ancient papers), while those made with hemp didn't get more than 1/3 the range. The issue was its natural elasticity. Only modern chemical can produce better string in that sense.

The biggest piles of sinew I've seen have been around 2000 grams... It's very hard to get, I don't think it would break anything if it was possible to make string and rope out of it. Especially if you had to use the normal equipment, no primitives would be building a rope machine because of the metals it requires. And they'd only have a simple twiner maybe. But anyway, this would stop the people on primitive animal infested islands from whining so it's a good suggestion. Now only to change the title to string from sinew rather than sinew in drying rack.

Even if someone had piles of sinew to make string out of, they would soon run out of it and have to hunt more. Sinew can only be gained by killing, even if domestication was implemented, so the reserves are limited. So I think this suggestion should be accepted and implemented soon, as it's realistic. Just gotta bear in mind that we are skipping the spinning part as sinew is originally thicker than plant fibres so the amount of string that can be produced in a day should be about half of what can be made from cotton yarn if we want to maintain the balance.
